Collected Wisdom

I like to collect insightful ideas. I have archived them here because I am a pack rat, and because you might enjoy them too. (You might call these pages a weblog.)

The ideas and viewpoints contained within are not necessarily my own- but they probably would not be here if they didn't somehow resonate with me.

Ashes to Ashes 12-27-2001
A prayer of thanks, from the last rites of the fictional religion Bokonon in the book Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
East vs. West - Concretism vs. Abstractions 12-8-2001
In the early 1900's Ezra Pound (paraphrased here) implores us to "Go in fear of abstractions. Don't use such an expression as 'dim lands of peace.' It dulls the image. It mixes an abstraction with the concrete. A maze of abstractions destroys unity."
Distributed Proofreaders 11-28-2001
What a cool idea! Enlist an army of volunteers to proofread, one page at a time, text destined to be added to the Project Gutenberg e-book program.
From Capitalism to Spirituality 11-16-2001
Can the selfishness of capitalism be applied to spirituality, and in the process make the world a better place? An interesting idea. Presented in the context of recent events.
