CS 202 : Homework 10

Homework Assignment #10 : Due Thu 12/09, Fri 12/10, and Mon 12/13

Part 1: Share and Comment through Website

First, you will upload your project to the Scratch website and add it to our Gallery named Fall10-Project 2

The image that you upload will be used to later create a mosaic from all student projects; so, please pick a flattering image of your project! Run your game to a point where you like the image on the Stage, then stop it, save it to a file, and then upload it. You can upload it by clicking on the "Share" button at the top of the Scratch environment and then selecting "Share this Project Online". In a pop-up menu, you will type in your username and password and then click OK. You should then go to the Gallery Fall10-Project 2 on the Scratch web site. Once you are at the Gallery, you will see a button labelled "add my project" which will allow you to add you project.

This step must be completed by Thursday 12/09 at 5 pm.

You also must comment on five other student projects that have been added to the Gallery. After Thursday, please browse through a range of projects and comment on five projects. Please choose projects that have not yet received five comments, since we would like everyone to get some feedback. Your comments should be added to the projects themselves and not added to the gallery.

To give feedback to other students, you should download their code (and not just play it through the web site). You may give feedback exclusively on the game play and appearance of their project or you may look at their code and comment on their code structure. Let your peer know what you like and don't like about their project, what you find confusing, and any bugs or problems you discover. You should write an amount near the 500 character limit. Please be polite and constructive, while giving feedback that is specific to this particular project. (You will show your comments to the TA when you have an individual demo with them.)

Please favorite (by clicking "Love it?") some set of Projects. These do not need to be the same ones you comment on.

This step must be completed by Friday 12/10 at 5pm.

Part 2: Participate in In-Class Demo

Everyone is expected to show up in CS 1370 for the demos held during class on Monday 12/13.

Students with lastnames starting with L-Z will demo their final versions of Project 2. When you are demoing, you should be next to your project explaining how to play it. You should bring a sign-up sheet for students to record that they attended your demo and their final score.

You may either run your project on your own laptop or one of the CS machines. In either case, do not run your project using the Scratch website! If you use the CS machine, make sure you activate your account the day before and figure out how you will copy your file there! (Lab hours are a good time to find out how to do this.)

Students with lastnames L-P will demo 10-10:20 (NEW they do not need to attend other demos and can leave at 10:20). Q-Z will demo 10:25 - 10:45 (NEW they do not need to attend other demos and can arrive at 10:20).

Students with last names A-K will not demo but must still attend other demos. Students with last names A-F should attend demos from 10-10:20; students with last names G-K should attend 10:25-10:45.
