Palindrome Word Play
Creative people are often fascinated by word play that conforms to strict rules.
Traditional palindromes are words or phrases that are spelled the same forward
backward. For example, George Bush was overheard lamenting:
[] Drat Saddam, mad dastard!
Or, when George's Chief of Staff turned in questionable expense reports:
[] Wonder if Sununu's fired now?
Stories with interleaved palindromes
I had some fun putting together stories that contain one line of "glue" for each
one line palindrome. I hope you find the results amusing.
- Live Not oN eviL -- A love story with a triangle
of betrayal!
- Solo GiGoloS -- An international tale.
- Reno LoneR -- Travel into the depths of depression with
the Red Nevada Vender, and then revel with him in the happy ending. This story also
introduces Taco Cat, a feisty feline you're sure to like.
Palindromes by words
There is also a word-by-word palindromic variation -- the words are reversed as in:
{} King, are you glad you are king?
For a poem so constructed:
- Emit timE -- In which an absent-minded professor
undiscovers the greatest secret of all time.
