Brief biography

I am currently a PhD candidate in the Database Group, and I'm working as a research assistant at the Microsoft Jim Gray Systems Lab. My advisor is Professor Jeffrey Naughton. Before arriving at UW Madison, I received my BS in Computer Science at Hanoi University of Technology in Vietnam.

Research information

Broadly speaking, my research interest is databases. My current work is about improving the performance of databases systems under modem hardware. Specifically, I'm focusing on:
  • Exploiting hardware Transactional Memory to speed up a class of short and small database transactions.
  • Parallelizing database operators and database systems for multicore machines.
Here is my brief resume.
