Good RTS, but a bit to hard core for my old age. I like to take the time to build up a base and slowly and strategically expand territory. But even on easy AI difficulty you are soon swarmed by enemies on your base. The game is really about capturing the resource points faster than the enemy otherwise you are screwed.

The game mechanics, graphics, UI and everything is just fine for such an old game. I like the game a lot, besides from getting my ♥♥♥ kicked on easy mode :)

This is the best. Do not tell me about the others, for this one is the best. In no other game I have seen can you build a sprawling military complex, and then build several military complexes each with specific functions. I have built naval bases, radar stations, listening points, walls, artillary bastions and air bases cloaked from radar. I have sent vast fleets to patrol the oceans, I have made refueling stations where spy planes and bombers alike refuel within sight of a walled complex humming with fifty power generators. I have rolled out tanks and bots in intricate military formations and panned the camera down to see my army rumble over hills, kicking up dirt and barging through forests. I have launched nukes and razed my enemies with gunships the size of mountains.

What I have NOT done is endure a measly RTS where you and your opponent start at opposite ends of a tiny map, build one land factory, one mine and two guard towers, and race to get the super unit. Forged Alliance doesn't do that. Forged Alliance treats you like a general, not a MOBA player.

This game is really great. If you like strategy games this will be a must have for you. The diverity in possebilities to take down your opponent is huge!

The most important is that there is still a community for this game. Just enter faforever.com in the URL and download the corresponding client which you will find in there. Once you joined the community you will be able to play with a huge amount of players with a great and better matchmaking system. Plus you can rank up.

It's the only good one in the series.
The Multiplayer Base vanilla is non-existant. Go to Forged Alliance Forever, and you'll find a dedicated as ♥♥♥♥ community. Trust me.

An underappreciated real-time strategy game way ahead of it's time. Truly a masterpiece - 10/10

I've yet to see another real-time strategy game that captures the scale, and sheer awesomeness of the battles in Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. Battles span across sprawling landscapes, massive seas, and in the air.

You play the role of a supreme commander, commanding your army from a giant battle mecha armor called an Armored Command Unit (ACU), a customizable, badass one-man army of it's own, highly capable of both fighting and building structures to support your economy and to produce forces.

From this literal war machine, you will be commanding hundreds of units at a time, and if the battles go on too long, you'll gain the technology to produce game-ending experimental super weapons, ranging from massive motherships, untouchable orbital lasers, sacred assault bots, to experimental resource generators or experimental nuclear missiles capable of wiping out significant portions of the map.

Since the scale of the combat is so vast, and the realistic fluidity of unit movement makes precise micromanagement impossible, you will be mostly focused on unit composition and macro-management of resources, expansions, and factories.

The economy in this game is income based, so this means you will never need to worry about running out of resources, but you need to make sure you're not overspending your income, or production will slow down significantly. You can also stockpile resources if you have adequate storage. This means you may, however, overspend if you have a significant amount of resources stockpiled. This allows you to surge production when you need to, to fend off a vicious assault, or to build a high-cost experimental weapon.

In short, this is a must play game for RTS fans looking for epic, slower-paced, strategy-heavy combat.

P.S. If you have this game, I highly recommend you augment it with the Forged Alliance Forever mod+client. It provides a very active online community, a platform to host games and play online games, and a rebalancing of game mechanics. I use this excusively when playing, this is why my play time recorded on Steam is so low, I actually easily have hundreds of hours in this game.
