About This Game

Magicka is a satirical action-adventure game set in a rich fantasy world based on Norse mythology. The player assumes the role of a wizard from a sacred order tasked with stopping an evil sorcerer who has thrown the world into turmoil, his foul creations besieging the forces of good.
Players will be able to combine the elements to cast spells, wreaking havoc and devastation on the minions of darkness. They will also be able to team up with friends and fight their way through the campaign, or test their skills in the magickal arts through other challenging modes.
In Magicka, up to four players take on a grand adventure to save their world from certain doom using a fully dynamic spell system. The adventure mode takes the players across three different levels, ranging from the lush forests of mountain valleys to the frozen halls of the Mountain King where wits and creative thinking are the keys to victory.
In the unlockable hardcore challenge mode, players fight off waves of enemies to earn their place on local and online leaderboards.

Main Features:

  • Innovative and dynamic spell casting system

I only recommend this game with multiple players, preferably ones who know how to cast revive instantly.

The controls are very stiff for keyboard and mouse. I haven't tried a controller to see if it gets better, but playing some of the missions by myself are more frustrating than hard. Some monsters have instant death attacks, some aren't phased when taking damage, and most enemies kill the player in 4-5 swings, which wouldn't be a big deal if the game gave enemies in proportion to the number of players in a game. With spells being locked if the player didn't pick them up, it makes it even more difficult since characters are very slow and can barely maneuver around.

I beat the main campaign with a friend and that was fun since we can revive each other very quickly when the game gave us unfair deaths. I played The Other Side Of The Coin and Vietnam Rescue by myself and in both games, the game glitched during my actions, forcing me to restart the level if I wanted to beat them. I didn't go back to complete them.

This game is a 4/10 as a single player game due to how cheap the game is along with the very bad controls, and a 7.5/10 with friends because I have no incentive to replay the levels and mostly the comedy of the characters speaking Sim-lish is what drives the campaign. There are some cool level layouts and I did have memorable moments in the campaign, so it isn't horrific, just not great.

As Vlad would say, "Scary blow jobs, my friends."

As soon as game starts, #1 sign of bad port is shown. Mouse moves jerkily. Obvious shoddy console port hastily ported to PC, but when trying to reconfigure controls in options, it always comes up with Xbox 360 controller binding. Avoid this game.

This is a great game to play. The gameplay changes as you learn to master new spells, and ways of killing. The story is hilarious "BANANA", and there are a ton of easter eggs in this game. If you haven't played it, or even looked into it, I suggest you do. If you ever played the Warcraft 3 / Frozen Throne with the Wizard wars or Spellcraft mod/map, and liked it, then this is exactly the game to get. The combinations of spells seem endless, the characters are hilarious, the weapons are awesome. You can't beat a Wizard with a machine gun, who..... can't swim? lol. Rating: 10/10

Great game! The campaign in hilarious but surprisingly un-easy, as is it's challenge mode. Only thing that turns me off is the amount of DLC available for purchase. I mean, new content is cool, It'd just be nice to get the whole game without paying extra. Gameplay is fun and inventive relying on ingenuity and creativity as much as skill.

this is a fun game. i am far from beating it but also my pc seems to have trouble running this some times. this was found out when my friend and i tried multiplayer. i won't lie there might be issues but you also need to know this game no longer gets any dev support.

so you might wonder why i would still recommend it to people. well the reason is was it was still entertaining to me and i've seen how interesting multiplayer can be. i did manage to get a game with my friend and sure we killed each other a lot but it was fun when it worked. so yes its worth it if you can get it to work. if you might be worried about the possible issues read up and see if its worth it to you or just refund it if you fit the guidelines.

Magicka! Oh how I hate your countless glitches, and yet I still continue to play.

I love this game. From its outrageous stories all the way to its own language. Great character design along with a rather humorous story. (I loved the characters so much I created my own Magicka Wizard's Robe custom to me from my own bed sheets)

As I mentioned before, Magicka has its glitches, bugs and unbarable lag at times. I suppose if you are me stationed in New England with garbage wifi playing with an Estonian and someone in Britain, you are bound to run into issues.
WATCH OUT THOUGH! If you find any fridges in a cave, be careful opening the door. ;P

One thing I learned from this game, Wizards like to eat Cheese and Sausage. Who would of known?
Not one of those overpriced games you see in the shoecase at Gamestop, so give it a try. If you enjoy it I urge you to purchase to DLC's!

This game is absolutely amazing, it's been a long time since I had so much fun with a game. They manage to make it seem like you level up, not because your character gets more powerful, but just because you as a person gets more skilled. The way you organically discover new spells just by experimenting, or kill yourself because you get flustered and stressed out is amazing. It's a fun and silly game, but the mechanics lead to a level of immersion I've never seen before.

This is one of the most glorious games ever created. The spell system is one of the most glorious utilization of a controller mapping I've ever saw. I love it so dearly. I wish I loved the second one as much, but the original it unparalleled in it's genius. If they released a remastered edition, with more DLC, spells, and enemies, but kept all the original aesthetics and spell systems the same, I'd buy three copies.

Another one of those games I would recommend with friends, but shy away from single player. Played in isolation it's a so-so shooter with a sense of humor that isn't what I find funny but made others laugh. You move from location to location, killing enemies, murdering their bosses and...that's about it. Rinse, repeat.

The "real" game is in multiplayer and, in particular, finding 2 or more friends to play with you. Spells combine, clash, cancel each other out, blow each other up, cause havok and generate a lot of yelling and laughing. That each spell affects players as much as it affects enemies is a big part of the experience, pretty much the whole experience really. Thankfully, it's a "thing" that carries the co-op campaign right through to the end. And then, if you're like me, you'll never want to play it again.

7/10
