Michael Lorenz is in his second year as assistant
director and drum instructor of the Wisconsin Band. Michael is a
native of Oak Creek, WI and graduated from Oak Creek High School. He attended UW Madison
and earned his Bachelors Degree in Music Education. Michael was a member of the UW Band
percussion section and was the duo section leader for two years. He earned two "Most Valuable
Percussionist" awards and
marched in the Rose Bowl performance in 1994, and the Hall of Fame Bowl in 1995. After
graduating with honors from the University Michael taught for three years in Cuba City, WI and one
year at Edgewood High School in Madison. Both schools received numerous awards and recognition
for their dedication to musical excellence. From July 1989 to October 1999 Michael was a member
of the 132nd Army National Guard Band based in Madison. In addition to his duties with the
Marching Band,
Michael will also be involved with miscellaneous Varsity Band performances, will conduct one of the
University Bands and coordinate the Percussion Equipment Resource Room. He plans to begin a
Master's Degree program in percussion performance. Mike lives in Madison with his wife Amy and
two children Hannah and Zachary. |
