Got it to replace my daily use HP (Vista) laptop that lasted a good 7 years (2008) of heavy every day use! Hope this one lasts as well!

Have to say the sound quality on this one is not as good (headphones are ok!) and the larger keyboards with integrated numeric pad takes some getting used to as to the memorized locations of the keys! They are not in the same spot as I'm used to. (old: delete=upper right/last key.... on the new one it's buried "somewhere" in the right third of the top row of keys! etc) but I think that's just a matter of getting used to it so no real faullt there. The keys themselves are suboptimal little chicklets that move about 1/32 of an inch (if that) and it's easy not to be right on center of the key with your finger and not get the keystroke to register- or get a double keey (<---see?! proofreading shows a bunch of inadvertant double strikees!) They're pretty fickle. Also, your palm tends to rest on the fingerprint sensor which invoke the fingerprint utility in the middle of working/typing.

I do like the screen! Much higher resolution and HD than the old one. Dont like the one single jack for either microphone or headphone but if you want to use both at the same time, you need to get a combimed unit with one mini jack. The old one had 2 earphone jacks and one mike jack. Also dont like the LED lights for hard drive access/ charging are on the side and not visible when using the machine. Also, wish HP would label the ports on the top of the machine so you dont have to turn it around to see where the ports are. Plugging in a USB or video cable is cumbersome as you have to search the sides for location of the proper "hole/socket".Read more ›

Fast and functional laptop.

Have only used this laptop a few times as this is my travel computer. It is fast and functional with familiar Windows 7. I suppose I will upgrade to 10 at some point but not hurry. Not sure what else to say except that everything is where you would hope, that is keyboard layout has no surprises, has the usual usb inputs. Have 15+ HP computers and am good with the level of build quality and durability. I keep buying HP laptops as I haven't had any issues with them. I guess the only improvement could be an SSD which I will no doubt put in at some point.
