I use multiple laptops for work as I can transport them from office to office easily, but hate typing on the small, cramped keyboards. This stand is very nice as it holds any size laptop very securely, is adjustable to any degree of tilt all the way to full vertical, and comes apart for slipping into a laptop bag and taking with you.

The vertical placement that this can do is great, hard to find in any other one. No way these will slip out either, very secure design.

To use this effectively though you will not be able to type on the notebook keyboard while it is in the stand, you want want a mini USB keyboard to plug into and place in front, or a wireless keyboard/mouse combo. So much nicer though to give it some air and raise the screen to eye level.

Took off one star because it is flat along the bottom and blocks access to the buttons on the front of my Dell XPS 1210 for things like mute and volume control, there is a Kensington stand I also have from the Dell site that has a curved front to allow access to those buttons, but it does not go vertical like this one, so have to choose what is best for you.

Overall, very good, highly recommend for getting your desk space back.

This is a good laptop riser - solidly built with plenty of non-skid rubber to keep it in place. My office got me one for my MacBook Pro but unfortunately it's not quite compatible. Even though it's adjustable, it's not adjustable enough to get the screen verticle when the laptop is open all the way (since MBP's have a more limited hinge than most PC laptops). Therefore, I need to prop the bottom of it up on part of the box the riser came in, so the whole front of the non-skid rubber is resting on the box instead of the desk.

Also, if you put a MBP on the riser while closed, the riser's front ledge blocks the open button, so I have to make sure I've opened it BEFORE I put it on the riser.

In short, it's a decent enough riser, but I'm going to probably have to get a MBP specific riser out of my own pocket at some point instead.

I've had two of these for almost a year now and I can't sing their praises enough.I have one in the home office and one on the bedside table which is a boon when hooking the notebook up to the flatscreen and watching downloaded movies.I also have a Logitech wireless mouse that works great on the bedcovers and takes care of most functions I need.
In response to Jeffs comments I can only suggest that he programmes his computer mouse (I also use Logitech wireless in the office) so that it can handle the volume and mute functions on his notebook. That's what I have done and it's sweet.

We purchased this to turn a 17" laptop into a desktop unit. It works great and is designed well. Could be a bit heavier but it is totally adjustable and sturdy enough if you are not going to be moving the laptop around a lot. 3M does not make junk. I looked at other brands and designs, even bought one that I returned to the store. This was the best.

UPDATE: 8/6/2013 Almost 5 years later the 17" laptop is long gone but we're still using this great little stand for the 14" laptop and the tablet.

Before I ordered this item for personal use, I had already been using this at work for about a month. It has been a boon for my stressed neck muscles. I have a Toshiba M35 15.4" wide-screen laptop at home and a Compaq nc6000 at work. While it fits just perfectly with both the laptops, there is a slight overhang (approx 1" on one side) when used with the Toshiba laptop. This can be an irritant if you would want to attach the mounting bracket for the document holder (which I would expect to be included with the product, not sold as an extra). You get the mounting bracket, but not the document holder!!

The good news is that the product is very very flexible (with multiple height settings) and very laptop-friendly (with vents in the base. This is better than putting your laptop on a flat surface.) Both of my laptops run a lot cooler! The detachable shelves (2 in number) are handy, but one would work just fine. 3M should replace the other one with the document holder. If you use a wireless mouse, you can put the base on it, or just a little trinket.

Finally, for just $23, you cannot beat this laptop riser. I have always admired 3M and this wonderful product hasn't dimmed my admiration for them.

This is the best, affordable, and cool-looking laptop riser.

I purchased this so that I would have room on my desk for a secondary keyboard. When I got it, I realized that there was enough room underneath the raised laptop to fit my external hard drive, USB hub, and network switch. My desk is now much less clutterd with wires, and the laptop is at a much more comfortable height.

We're retired and old... which makes ergonomics really important. The wife drives with the seat all the way up. I have it all the way back. Our latest laptop measures 16.35" (W) x 10.8" (D) x 1.25" (H), has a 17.3" display and comes in at
6¾ lbs. We purchased the 3M LX600MB (at about half retail) from Amazon and have used it daily, sometimes for hours, since the first part of January 2011. It adjusts way easier than either of us and stays put until one of us readjusts it. With the laptop seated, the stand will allow us to rotate it easily side to side on the desk or 360 degrees if there's a reason to. It is well made and keeps the computer's display at the appropriate height for everyone who uses it. We have been very satisfied with the purchase and, for the price paid, would not hesitate to make the same purchase again. The LX600MB gets a standing ovation from us (as does this order from Amazon.com).

As an additional note: It's 2012. We are still using the 3M riser on a daily basis. We're still pleased.
