This is a terrible product - completely USELESS...

2 years ago I bought a Anti-glare screen shield from another company for my Macbook Retina as I did a lot of portable work and it worked wonders but they didn't stock any for 23" screens.

This is simply a bit of diffused plastic that is thick which reduces glare at the cost of readability and clear images. It's USELESS. I got a headache within 10mins of trying to use it.

Great at cutting glare, Application a little funky.

First off whoever the Moron is that started the whole idea of these newer Glare Screens needs to do everyone a big favor and go back to designing mirrors for Hollywood Starlets, Glare screens went out with the first flat screens, prior to that anti glare screen add-on's were big sellers because of the glare from the old CRT's and this idiot brings them back !

Now, I ordered the more expensive Anti Glare (not just a privacy screen) filter from 3M because I know they usually produce first rate products of all kinds, and as expected this truly is a First Rate Anti Glare Screen and has made my cheapo Acer laptop actually usable in my service van under most conditions, and without it I had to be in complete shade to even have a chance to see what was on the screen, So the Anti Glare Properties of the screen I rate at 5 Stars, now the reason for rating it overall at 4 stars is because while the screen is easy to install and fit well it uses an adhesive strip system that has you apply a tape like substance then remove it's backing and the adhesive stays on the anti glare sheet, this works well in general and is said to be re-positionable several times ( had no need to test reapplication, as it went on perfect), the lost star is because the adhesive shows up along the edge of the screen much more then I would have thought although in my case it really does not cause any problems it just does not look good, the sheet also has a crescent shaped cut in the top edge I am guessing as some kind of spot to grab the edge of the sheet should you need to re-position it, this also shows up and is not really needed, also my screen sheet had a flaw in the surface that looked like something was under it even before it was applied when nothing was on it, this too did not cause any problem it just looks like a dirt speck under it when it is clean, those two gripes are well worth putting up with for the amazing difference in improved usability and less eye strain.

Blurs glare without making screen more readable

Literally all this product does is blur the glare. It doesn't remove the glare, it just blurs it. If that's what you're looking for then this product is great. I feel like the product makes promises it can't deliver.

I used this screen on a glossy screen laptop alongside a different laptop with a matte screen while out in the sun. There were no glares on the matte screen. It wasn't possible to play a game with the matte screen but reading text with full brightness on worked fine. There were still noticeable (now blurry) glares on the glossy laptop with screen which made it difficult to read text. I felt like it was a bit easier to read the text on the glossy laptop without the filter on.

If you do decide to order this product then make sure there's a decent return policy. I ordered mine directly from 3M. It took eleven days for me to receive it after they shipped it and their return policy says an item can't be returned past two weeks from the ship date from their store. I had three days to try it out and contact them to get a return authorization. Three days seems like a short return period to me.

Effectively reduces the distraction due to glare.

As other reviews have stated, the effect of the anti-glare filter is to blur the glare, so that instead of appearing like a mirror image of the environmental light sources it appears as a diffuse haze in front of the image on the computer screen. The anti-glare filter also somewhat blurs the image on the computer screen. The effect, in my opinion, is highly beneficial, making the image on the computer screen much easier to see and making the glare much less distracting. We have two desk-top computers in our household. Having seen how effective this filter is on one of them, I have ordered another filter for the other computer.

The product offers two methods for attaching the anti-glare filter to the screen, one with adhesive strips and another with adhesive edge clips. I did not succeed in making the adhesive edge clips work. They pulled off the screen when I was attempting to insert the filter. However, the adhesive strips worked easily.

Turns reflections into glare on glossy screens

Bought this based on reviews to help knock out reflection on two design workstations. Unfortunately, the annoying, sharp, and distracting reflections turned into annoying, fuzzy, and angrifying diffuse glare. Also, although 3M recommends these for the monitors I use, they're too narrow to cover the slightly oversized widths.

Does nothing to block the glare

I ordered these filters to block sun glare and they miraculously made the glare WORSE. The product description states "Helps reduce glare and mirror-like reflections which makes your screen easier to use in high-glare situations." Go back to writing fiction, 3M. Consumers - save your money.

Reduces glare significantly

I do quite a bit of work from home, but wanted to be able to sit on my deck to work on my laptop. Enter the the 3M Anti-Glare Filter. It certainly cut the glare down so I can work outside.

The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that I find the installation a bit ugly/awkward looking.

Needs a better application design
