I have an Asus Q551 and needed a spare power cord. I checked the list of compatible models and shape of the product looked close to my original power brick. The item that arrived looked even more like my original, so I was excited until I saw the plug for the computer. It was way too small to work. See photo: left side original factory cord; right side reviewed item. This item is not compatible with the Asus Q551

I've been through two power adapters for my Asus N61JQ notebook (thanks to one very enthusiastic puppy), and I had to do a bit of searching to find this one. Asus has apparently discontinued the original adapters in favor of this slim design - which is nicely compact and lightweight. Check out the Asus website for a list of compatible notebooks.

Nothing beats OEM

Plain and simple, this is the OEM adapter for a number of different models (including my own). I debated a third party adapter but in the past I have had very poor luck with non OEM suppliers so I decided to stick with something I knew would work. I spent a few extra dollars to replace my lost charger and have not regretted it. The only downside is the overall length of the cable is much shorter than the original so distance from an outlet is severely limited.

I needed an extra charger for my laptop and this definitely did it. Like it a lot compared to other charger is that is compact and small. Comes with a velcro to tie of the chords so they don't get messy. Have one for my office and one for at home use.

I have an Asus laptop and needed to replace the original power adapter cord. After doing a search on Amazon for compatible adapters, I ended up purchasing this one--mainly because it had the Asus label.

The adapter worked fine--for about three months.

One day, the laptop suddenly stopped charging. I went to turn it on only to realize it had not charged. I plugged this adapter back into the laptop, but it still wasn't charging. Eventually the laptop battery completely drained, and it turned off before I could figure out what was going on.
Since this adapter was only three months old, I thought the problem must be with the laptop itself. I took the laptop apart to check connections and to check the battery, and I even did some kind of reset that I read about on-line that might help...still nothing.

After days of frustration I decided the only other thing to try was to order another new adapter. I ordered another adapter from Amazon (a different one from this one) and sure enough, it charged the laptop and everything worked fine again.
Because this adapter only worked for about three months, and because it stopped working so suddenly and without warning, I cannot give this adapter any more than a one star rating.

Not as pictured!! And not what I was looking for.

I wanted an extra power supply to carry in my computer bag so I thought this would be perfect. But, you NOT get the power supply like the one pictured. The one pictured is what came with my computer and what I wanted to purchase. The lightweight one piece unit that the power adapter plugs directly into the wall. What I received is the big bulky 2-piece power supply. The two part cord is the power adapter box that sits in the floor with an attached cord that will plug into your computer. Then, there is an additional 14 gauge 3-prong cord that plugs into the wall and then into the side of the power adapter. Similar to a cord supplied with most printers. It works...but it is not what is pictured and not what I was looking for.

Don't be fooled by cheaper prices!

I got tired of moving my charger around the house with me all day long so I decided to get a second one. I looked at a lot of the cheaper options on Amazon and while the $7-$10 price range was tempting I decided to go with the more expensive one. This one looks exactly like the original that came with my computer both in the picture and in person. I've used it a few times and it works like the original one does, haven't had any issues. The cord is plenty long- I am able to lay in bed with it plugged in across the room. I ordered on the 9th and received on the 15th, so ship time was great. For the price and my experience so far I have no doubt this was worth the money/it will last a long time.
