It has everything Asus promised. The touchscreen is really nice. There were no scrapes or dents. The keys are all fine as well. It's also very light weight and doesn't get super hot when I'm charging it. The computer also came on time!
The only thing I had problems with was the Skype app, but I guess that's not Asus' fault.

ASUS 15.6" HD Quad-Core Touchscreen Laptop, 500GB HDD & 4GB RAM

Amazon advertises the laptop as the "15.6" HD QUAD-Core Touchscreen Laptop; the ASUS model as delivered is really the K553MA-DB01TQ model. Since nobody else had the opportunity to rate the product and share their experience with its features, I was hoping to be the first with a 5 star review and a wonderful experience after sending it through its paces for a few weeks.

To start off, there is much about this laptop that I like.

PROS - - It has what the advertisements say it has:
1.83 GHz Intel Celeron QUAD Core processor
* 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM
* 500 GB Serial ATA
Touch screen
Windows 8.1

CAVEATS - You get what you pay for in the actual hardware reliability and performance out-of-the box. The laptop I received had an issue with a single key on the keyboard, (the "v" key kept "popping out" of its base if I missed the center of the key in my keystroke - not a good sign of quality to me), and ASUS customer support informed me that my only options were to send it back to the seller (Amazon) for a replacement, or send it out to ASUS for repair.

Bottom line recommendation: If you, as the consumer, don't mind the gamble of being the one who discovers a fresh out-of-the-box issue with the product, and don't mind the back-and-forth shipments to "get it right", this is the laptop for you! For myself as a consumer, it's quite a reality check for "let the buyer beware", so it's on its way back to Amazon for a refund.

Absolutely love this laptop. It's fast, lightweight, with a bright, beautiful screen, stays remarkably cool, performs brilliantly and best of all, the touchscreen makes a nearly mouse-free experience.

My favorite purchase this year.

I like the touchscreen

I like the touchscreen, processor is ok, the laptop is more professional looking than the other brands such as Toshiba, Hp, and Dell. I bought this from Fred Meyers from $429.00, beats having to weight for the order and I can return the item in 30 days if I don't like it. I don't like the Number Keyboard, it's way too narrow. The mouse is something to get used to, touchy if you aren't using it right. The keyboard seems like they jump right away, and you can bend the keyboard and top cover a little bit, which makes it feel flimsier than other keyboards from other brand makers like Toshiba, Dell, and Hp. I like that it is a 1.8Ghz processor and Intel Bay Trail M Quad-Core Processor. Asus manufactures most of their parts, not like other brands, Toshiba, Dell, Lenovo, and Hp, these other brands buy their parts from Quanta, Compal, Wistron, Inventec, Pegton, Foxconn, Flextronics, and Clevo. I choice an Asus laptop because they manufacture most of their own parts and actually build their own laptops. Not like the other brands where they buy parts and have other manufactures build their laptops, and they just slap their logo on it. I did a lot of research on laptops, and I saw I can have a laptop custom made by a company http://www.xoticpc.com but I didn't want to wait for the laptop because I needed one ASAP for college. This laptop doesn't get hot while plugged in or while I am using youtube. I like that am able to watch youtube and do other tasks and it won't quit playing the youtube video or get too slow. I like that it can read CDs and DVDs, along with an HDMI connection. I'm still waiting go install my iTunes and see how it works listening to music and trying to do other tasks at the same time.

I recd this computer 2 days ago. While i am still not an 8.1 fan i really like the laptop. I said like. This laptop has great speed for what i need, email surfing the net, watching movies (on external projector) and sound. Quality....not so much. As previously stated, this keyboard is, for lack of a better word, flimsy. Even with soft keystrokes it flexes...the space bar flexes so much if you are not right on it does not space. you have to be extra careful. The touch screen is very sensitive mostly then not sensitive at all?? must be my fingers. Very light and not hot running at all. the touch screen will take some gettin used to, and i did want it to try anyway.
overall i give it an 8 out of 10. this keyboard just needs some support under it and would be so much better. I will call Asus to see if this is a defect in mine or not.

I'd highly suggest avoiding this laptop. Mine repeatedly crashed when trying to run some of the most basic programs (such as Chrome) and the hard drive started giving a death rattle within the first day. I didn't even dream of trying to game with it; doing so would surely have finished it off. I don't know what they expected with these, but quality control should've been a bit more on the ball about it.
