I have owned an ASUS Republic of Gaming laptop for years, which ran World of Warcraft solidly without melting down as the Vaio and Toshiba Q-series laptops did before it. So I have had a top-notch experience with the brand of ASUS. So after my daughter kept her previous low-end laptop for 2 years without breaking it or spilling anything on it, and after its charging port died, I found this steal of a deal.

Pros:
An amazing number of CPUs for its price (4 processor +6 GPUs, as another reviewer has pointed out)
The most memory (8GB) of the laptops in its price bracket
1TB 5400RPM drive - not the fastest but an enormous amount of space
As mentioned in previous pros, PRICE - this one is a steal at the price I paid. No other laptops had these features for this price.

Con:
Only one I can think of - monitor resolution (1366 x whatever) - but I don't think my daughter cares. There are higher resolution screens in this price bracket, but those come with serious tradeoffs, usually in the form of processor speed and memory, which to my mind are the most crucial pieces of hardware in a computer.

To Sum Up:
Buy this!
We have had this laptop for a few weeks and it has met every high expectation I have had for it. My daughter does use it to video call, and she comes down after her video calls elated with its performance and detailing how it is so much better than her prior laptop.

I brought My Asus X550ZA from best buy with an overall price of 460$,
Pros:
Lightweight
Portable
Fast
Powerful
Great Speakers hidden somewhere
This laptop is from asus so of course you got all these good apps like maxxaudio which adjust your audio based onn what mode you select (Gaming, Movies, Music etc...)
Cons:
The screen bottom where it says asus can bend inward (wont break)
The beautiful back can get grease on it

TIONAL: THIS BABY IS CLOCKED AT 2.5 BUT CAN TURBO UP TO 3GHz AND HAS 10 CORES ALL AROUND (4 cpu + 6 gpu}

I am enjoying this machine. It was a great deal imo.

👍 I like:
-- decent size screen with a good picture
-- the laptop looks great, I like the back design and the black keyboard with the silver outline.
-- this is smooth & speedy for surfing, media, office, etc and even for less demanding games like WoW, LoL, diablo etc
-- great price. I got it for $100 cheaper here than from other sources
-- windows 10 upgrade is a plus (even if it's free)
-- built in Mic works pretty well, decent sound
-- battery charge seems to last about 3 hours and doesn't take long to charge. This is better than my previous laptops, so this is a Pro for me.
-- shipped very quickly!

👎 Could be better:
-- Only 1 headphone/Mic jack.. if youre like me and have a headset with 2 different plugs, you will only get to use one. And if you plug a mic into the jack, sound doesn't come out of the laptop speakers.. :/
-- graphics card is mediocre. As I said, WoW runs pretty well. Good-high settings running 50-80fps. Could be better.
-- the back of the laptop is susceptiple to scratches/grease stains. Beauty comes with a price, just be careful.
-- if you are a gamer, the laptop and ac power cord gets hot. There's a sticker on the laptop that says "keep your hands ice cool" nope. wrong. It blows warm/hot air and your hands will be sweaty. The ac power unit will get very hot if it's plugged in while gaming. be very careful.
-- all of the stickers on the laptop are majorly crooked. This is my OCD talking but geez.. I figured a human put the stickers on but I've never bought a laptop with the stickers completely crooked and out of place.
-- webcam is atrocious, works though.
-- I saw one review saying the speakers were great.Read more ›

Very happy I bought this laptop!

I had a great experience using the tablet listed above, so when I did some research for a new laptop I began searching for an Asus laptop. Speaking as of today I am very happy I made that choice.

The battery life of this ASUS X550ZA-WB11 is excellent for the size of this computer. It charges super quickly so if you need to bring your laptop somewhere, you can plug it in half an hour before you go and have enough juice to last you some hours. Furthermore, the screen is the right size, comes with a FULL OS 8.1 plus the weight is so light I do not even feel any weight when I carry it.

Also the Wi-Fi works excellently and some people have had an issue with the mouse pad which I have had no issues so far (have used it quite a lot) but I do have a small mini wireless mouse (which works with no issues) in case I need to get things done fast. It does have 2 USB (3.0) so you can speed up file transfer to and from your laptop. I have yet to try the mini HDMI so I cannot say much about that.

In conclusion, this laptop is very high quality for the price. It is worth the buy, if you are looking to use it for the aforementioned purposes.
