It's always good to do thorough research before a purchase. It did exactly that with this laptop cooler and it paid off.

This is a great product. It is absolutely silent. When I have it on my lap I can feel the breeze coming from under the laptop. I have a Kuzy case on my laptop and the rubber feet on the Kuzy help keep the laptop in place on the cooler. It has two little feet that help adjust the height of the cooler which is very helpful. The blue light is silly but harmless, you don't see it when the laptop is on the cooler.

All in all a high quality product. It is so nice not to feel like I am going into premature menopause with the laptop cooking my legs and making me sweat.

Just a side note - The cooler pads measure 15" and 17" diagonally. That may be an uh-duh to some but it wasn't for me.

Works great, but some minor annoyances

I bought this cooling pad for my HP Pavilion dv7 laptop. As promised, it provides a cool surface for my laptop to sit on and improves the airflow. Now my laptop only gets mildly warm, which is a big improvement.

Many reviewers have complained that their laptops slide off after propping up the adjustable feet. My solution is to cut a narrow strip of "grip shelf liner" and place it under the back of the laptop. It doesn't interfere with the airflow and keeps my laptop in a stable position. Please see my pictures.

There are a few drawbacks to this machine. It is advertised to fit up to a 17-inch laptop, but it is slightly smaller than mine. I don't like the blue lights, which streak across my desk and walls. Lastly, it does not turn off when I close my laptop. It would be nice if it could.

Bottom line: This product works well, but you might have to make small adjustments and deal with minor annoyances.

Great for the price but one does worry about the long-term durability.

I have a large, heavy 17" gaming laptop. It produces a LOT of heat when playing modern, graphic-intensive games for more than a short stint. The graphics card is the main culprit here, and I could always feel a large amount of heat radiating from the top left side of my laptop after a gaming session.

DESIGN:

I liked the simple industrial design. The LED lights are kind of cool. They aren't too bright, but it still would be nice to be able to turn them off. I like to play games at night in bed, and occasionally one of the lights will beam my 2-month old daughter in the face haha.

Also, the adjustable stands are nice. I prefer a steeper incline, and I was able to get it.

NOISE:

As promised, this unit is SILENT. It produces virtually no audible noise whatsoever.

COOLING:

The cooling pad does it's job pretty well. There is a noticeable reduction in the heat coming from the graphics card. Instead of being hot, it is slightly warm. Basically, it performs to my expectations. I wouldn't expect a fan to provide total cooling.

CONSTRUCTION:

Initially, I thought my laptop was going to crush the cooling pad. It is EXTREMELY light (I would call it "feather-weight") due to the plastic bottom and aluminum mesh top. But, it seemed to support the weight well. However, once when I was adjusting the laptop, it sounded like the fan scraped against the mesh. It didn't seem to cause any damage, but it doesn't take much of a stretch of the imagination to see that being a problem in the future.

OVERALL:

4/5. I have some concerns about the long-term durability of the product, but for the price, you can't go wrong. It works, it is light, and it is quiet.

VERY WEAK. VERY VEEEEERY WEAK AIR FLOW.

Fake reviews? Illegitimate seller? Either way, two HUGE thumbs down. The constantly on blue light would be a big downside if it mattered. But that falls to the wayside in comparison with the terrible performance of this pad. It is A JOKE how weak these fans are. Seriously, they do next to nothing.

I tried to think of a way to show visually just how pathetic these fans were and uploaded a customer photo of them FAILING TO LIFT EVEN A SINGLE TISSUE OF TOILET PAPER. These could never hope to cool your laptop down.

I rarely write reviews, let alone go through the effort to include a photo, but hopefully I save at least ONE person from making this mistake. PLEASE heed my warning. I have never heard of 'Avantek' before, but I have made a vow to crusade against them after they f***ed me over with this product which OBVIOUSLY should never have made it to market.

If the strength of the fan is no concern for you (why are you shopping for a cooling pad) then consider how slick the surface is, My laptop, which has rubber grippers on the bottom, still slides off if I put the feet up. or how unreasonable the placement of the USB ports and power switch is (on the back???).

Oh yeah, it DOES have that cool 'X' in the middle though!!!

Works great when running Starcraft 2

Works great when playing Starcraft 2. I can play for a couple hours without the game freezing up. Fans are nice and quiet and work surprisingly well considering the amount of RPM's (compared to others). My laptop is a HP Envy 17.3" screen so obviously it's a little bigger than the fan but still isn't an issue. So far I have absolutely zero issues!
