I was very surprised by this little laptop.

I wanted a small laptop that I could easily take around with me and not break the bank. I wanted something with little power to limit my multi-tasking (and distracting) tendencies, and this worked perfectly. It's really a test of patience to run more than one thing on this laptop, so it keeps me to my intent.

But even with the low power, it's still spiffy enough for my purpose - to browse my typical web pages and write my documents.

I had to choose between this laptop, the Acer Aspire E11 ES1-111M-C40S and the HP Stream 11. I had a preference for the HP Stream 11, but the 32G drive would not have been suitable enough for me, so I decided to go with this laptop for the HDD and the upgradeable memory.

I haven't upgraded anything in it as yet, and may not do so for a while, but I'm sure this thing would be super with an SSD and 8GB RAM.

I would have liked at least 4GB RAM instead, but for the price I paid, I can't complain.

This is a great laptop which was just over two Benjamins when I bought it, though the price has gone up slightly, and at two and a half Benjamins I'm not sure whether it's still the best option at that price, although I am not aware of the alternatives.

I found that Windows seemed to freeze up often, which was very annoying, so I purchased an 8gb DDR3 SODIMM and replaced the 2gb memory it ships with. This involved removing and then restoring a total of 20 (!!) screws, all of them Phillips head, but it worked perfectly. The 8gb memory fixed this problem completely. 4gb also might be enough, but if you're going through the trouble to replace 20 screws, why not go all the way for 8gb? The hard drive is also upgradable (you only need to remove about 13 screws to do this), but I have not had any need to upgrade it yet.

The keyboard is just a little hard to type on, but this is what you pay for the opportunity to have a laptop this small. There is only HDMI out, no DVI or VGA, but it's cheap. It does have an ethernet jack, which my Macbook doesn't have. I love it, although I only use it when I need Windows.

Pros:
I like how light it is
the price point

Cons:
The cursor jumps on finger lift from, or push of, the mouse pad.
My system auto-updated with around 38 updates from Microsoft, and on restart it bricked the computer. (I think that's a 2 GB memory problem.)

I hope by upgrading the memory to 8 GB, it will just immediately begin to work again. I don't know why the company (Acer) ships a computer with only 2 GB of DRAM and Windows 8.1 (which attempts to set up to automatically upgrade the OS). Acer should just charge around $20 more and put in 4 or 8 GB of DRAM for the base configuration with Windows 8.1. Or maybe Microsoft should do a better job of initiating upgrades for computers with only 2 GB of DRAM.

It's actually for my daughter, and she loved it, it's easy to setup, very light to carry around window 8.1 is a plus and it's just right for the price

Light weight, easy to carry around. Hard drive sort of slow, but it can be changed which we will probably do.
