pretty good, but...

UPDATE 9/2/15: Inexplicably my laptop went all screwy the night of 8/31/15, went down, and then wouldn't go beyond the log in screen. Long story short, I called Acer (didn't want to do anything on my own to void the 12-month warranty) and the computer tech walked me through doing a factory reset of the computer. (I had everything backed up to the cloud so no worries on losing anything.) The GREATEST part of that was, all the bloatware I complained about in the original post was gone and did not come back after the reset...not even the pesky booking.com I couldn't remove.

As for what happened to cause the crash...that is the big question for me. Software malfunction of some sort. This wouldn't be terribly concerning for me because every product has a dud occasionally, except my neighbor purchased an Acer laptop about a year ago and she had the same thing happen when she'd had the unit about 4 months. She ordered hers from Amazon and it, too, was loaded with bloatware she had to remove. I'm not certain if this is an Acer problem or some of the bloatware that was put on the machine that I removed.

My daughter now needs a new laptop and I'm thinking about that purchase for Christmas. I will definitely not purchase another Acer just to be on the safe side, but I'm now leery of purchasing any computer through Amazon simply because I don't know what all has been put on the box pre-sale.
