Good laptop no 5ghz or dvd drive

Very fast and seems like it is made good. My only real gripe is that it doesn't have 5ghz wireless card, otherwise would gave 5 stars.

Could be lighter (at cost of battery life)
no optical drive (but how often do you use one anymore?)
have to disassemble whole case to upgrade ram and HD (shouldn't be a real big deal for most people)
no 5ghz wireless?? (really, no 5ghz.. why?)

I like it. I've replaced hdd with ssd (this wasn't easy), also I've installed Ubuntu and everything is working (except touchpad, it becomes unresponsive after awaking, but I think this is bug in Ubuntu)

Touch screen is nice and useful (I mean a "touch" part), but the quality of a picture is bad (comparing with my Dell U2410 it is terrible). But it's my first laptop and I don't know, how hq laptop screen should look like. So not recommended for professional use

I gave 5 stars... only because I'm the first reviewer and this is $400 laptop with i5. It deserves not more than 4 stars and only for it's price.

Worth the price, but no DVD drive??

Beautiful, feels substantial - not cheap. Keyboard works good, easy to type on. Windows 8.1 with the touch screen is amazing. Good battery life. Was a little shocked when I saw there was no place to put a CD or DVD in. How am I supposed to upload programs? Got it on sale for $379. An i5 at that price with a touch screen, no brainer.

Intel i5 is good but I am having Wi-Fi connection issue

The notebook itself is nice. I am planning to upgrade my ram and HDD to SSD later for faster speed. The screen is average but viewing angle is limited and resolution is matching perfectly when you connect it with HDMI to your HDTV. You will need few adjustments. I bought this for my son who need it for his homework and research, it did what it supposed to do except Wi-Fi connection. I got limited connection every few minute and searched the internet for solution. I did upgrade driver and uninstall the driver and even disable the Bluetooth they did not do the trick. I just gave up for now and may be calling customer service in a future. For now I am using USB Wi-Fi stick which never had any problems of drop or limited internet connection. Some Acer users are having same issue but they had that problem few years ago. I was surprised that they did not fix this issue in 2014 model!!! I had Dell computer before and never had this kind of issue. I wish I can fix this problem because USB stick will draw some more juice out of battery.

Great for most people, But consider a Logitech cordless mouse too.

This is a great price for a pretty good laptop. I got mine at Best Buy the day after Christmas for about $450 out the door, Texas tax is high!
Pros; I5 processor
RAM can be replaced with two 8 GIG sticks
Touch screen is nice
USB 3,
Bluetooth

Cons; Only one USB 3
Keyboard is not backlit, nit picking I know, but would have been nice.
RAM only 4 GIG
To upgrade the ram, you have to remove the motherboard, as it is on the backside with no access door. Not made for the inexperienced to attempt.
Overall, I would buy this again if I need a replacement, or a gift. I like using a cordless mouse more than a touchpad since my fingers have gotten old and thick (fat) 5 Star

The mouse is very unpredictable and hard to use at times. I use Google Chrome as my browser, and it crashes and freezes constantly, but I've run all the troubleshooting tips through the browser and it says there are no conflicts with Flash or any other applications. I think this computer is just testy. I really need to spend a few solid hours going through all the extraneous programs that come with Windows 8 and organize it all to my liking. Right now it's just a lot of clutter that my mouse will mistakenly click on and cause me frustration.
