Very nice laptop! My only suggestion is to purchase a mouse to go with it. The battery life is awesome, the touch screen is awesome. This was the best priced laptop with an i5 core, and it's worthy! I would have given it a 5, but I had to go purchase a mouse because I didn't like the pads reaction timing.

I have one of these I got from a store, not Amazon, and I find it to be great for the cost. Although I recommend upgrading a few components and you'll end up with a far superior computer for a few extra dollars (if you want to splurge I will also include the pricey upgrades). ALSO, good to note is this laptop is Hackintosh compatible and retains full native functionality of the touchscreen while running OS X. If you plan on running OS X you need a modified kernel and a few extra kexts for the trackpad and sound and ethernet and wifi and bt and battery percentage, among other things. First is the hard drive, which is stock: a 500 GB SATA 3 5400 RPM HDD. Nice laptop but constant wireless issues (*and Updated Review)

This computer is fairly nice when it actually works. However, the WiFi CONSTANTLY drops and I am going to have to send it back to Acer for repair. I went through all of the steps including updating the drivers and uninstalling/reinstalling the wireless drivers and absolutely nothing has worked. My computer will not stay connected to the internet for more than a minute at a time (literally.)

The WiFi does work and stay connected if I am in the same room as the router, but once I move further than 10-15 feet away from the router, it constantly drops. I don't have this problem with my 5-year-old laptop and none of my other devices have this problem.

Thankfully, Acer is paying for all of the shipping costs, but reading several reviews it appears this is a common problem, and I think these devices should never have been shipped in the first place.

***UPDATE 3/24
I sent my laptop in for repair and despite the fact that resetting my computer's BIOs and resetting the computer had already proved not to work when I previously chatted with Acer support (and it was noted in my case notes that this did not work,) the Acer repair people simply updated/reset the bios, and factory reset my computer and shipped it back to me.

Not surprisingly, the issue is still not fixed. Not only is the issue still a problem, but I am now having difficulty reinstalling the Windows 8.1 Pro that I purchased. Acer is claiming that they won't do anything besides service the wireless card since 8.1 Pro did not ship with the computer and they consider upgrading from 8.1 to 8.1 Pro to be an "outside update." Acer was the cause of my deleted 8.1 Pro (and Windows Media Center) in the first place and now they refuse to remedy the issue that they actively created.Read more ›

After two weeks using this laptop I think it is a very good deal, for this price is hard to find any laptop with a I5 processor and is probably the cheapest with a touchscreen which is a great feature when using Windows 8.1

Pros:
- Touchscreen
- Pretty capable processor, more than enough for everyday use.
- Good battery life, got over 6 hours using it to browse the internet, watch movies and play some light games. (around 2,5 hours to charge with the laptop off)
- HDMI, one Usb 3.0, VGA port and DVD Drive, which add a lot of versatility

Cons:
- The touchpad don`t have a good response, is a good idea to purchase a mouse to use with this laptop.
- Only 4Gb of RAM, and the access to the internal components is not easy, so if you want to add more RAM it is going to take some work

All the other components like the screen, speakers, keyboard and camera are not bad i would say that they are just okay, but for the price ($400 at the time I got it) this laptop seems to me a pretty sweet deal, just hope it keeps working well for a long time

Everything was as described! I switched it on, followed the settings and took off for another country days later. I've had nothing to worry about and the laptop has worked perfectly everywhere I've been! For a business woman always on the go and needing the flexibility of a laptop with a touchscreen for quick actions like zooming, scrolling, changing pages it's been a very practical tool for my business.
