Great beginner gaming laptop! (Or if you are so adventurous as to try mobile PC gaming)

I actually understand that you really can't get away from mechanical hard drives at this price, but what you get for the price is amazing.
This is very good beginner gaming laptop. With a nVidia 940, with 2gb vRam (4 if you get 17", or i7) it packs a punch. I was also pleasantly surprised that it did not burn my legs off why I was gaming on my lap. Something that can't be said about some HP Envy laptops with Radeon graphics of a similar caliber. It also appears that the absence of an optical drive leaves room for storage expansion, or indeed, an optical drive. (If I open it later, I will share my findings, hopefully with pictures or a video.)

It must be said however, that in order for one to have a good experience with this machine, you MUST install a fresh image of Windows, which can be done with nothing more than a flash drive and Internet acess. Just go online and type in Windows 10 media creation tool. Download and run it, install it to the flash drive. Once done, plug the flash drive into the laptop, and turn it on while spamming f2. The BIOS will come up and go over to boot, and reorder the boot order, putting the usb drive on the top. Save changes and restart. Now booting from usb, you can begin a custom install of Windows. Delete all partitions on the HDD, until they have all merged together into a single partition. Then click new, and follow the prompts. Once the computer restarts, spam f2 again, and in the BIOS, go all the way to the right, and reset to default, save/exit. You will be greeted with the Windows setup, and continue to imstall. Don't worry about the activation key, Windows will detect the internal key, and use it to activate the new copy of Windows. If you haven't already, you can disconnect the flash drive now.

All in all, this is a great option for those who want to get into PC gaming who want the portability of a laptop, without breaking the bank.

but I think it would be nice to have it easily replaceable if something goes wrong

I bought the laptop for 600$ and I think it is well worth that price. Had no problems with it really and it's just about as fast as I expected. It's got an i5 processor from the newest generation, 1080p screen, 802.11ac for faster wifi on newer routers. If you used Windows 8, Windows 10 is basically the same. Just probably should change some privacy settings.

It does have a non-removable battery which I wish I knew before I bought it. Really, it's not an issue for me since I'm not gonna buy a second battery, but I think it would be nice to have it easily replaceable if something goes wrong. With the batteries in this laptop, you basically have to take the whole thing apart which is like brain surgery. That being said, who knows maybe a non-removeable battery will be less prone to damage from spills.

Also, I don't like the touchpad very much. My old touchpad was responsive if I just rolled my fingers without actually moving the entire finger, but this one is not. I'm also used to 2 finger click commanding the mouse-wheel button action instead of a right click. It doesnt seem like this is an inherent option. Not sure if it's because of the touchpad software or windows 10. I do believe it is programmable if you go into the registry but I don't wanna mess with all that.

I think this was a good deal at the time I bought it. The price has gone down since then and Acer has released a new version of this 573G series that has double the VRAM for less than 20$ more.

Best Bang for the Buck, if you can spend 2-3 hours reinstalling Windows and Drivers.

Best Bang for the buck.
As everybody else said, this laptop has substantial amount of annoying preloaded bloatware. But after a clean install of Windows 10 and downloading necessary drivers, this laptop is excellent for medium-setting gaming and school work.

As someone else mentioned, (1) use the Windows Media Creation Tool to create a bootable Windows 10 USB drive; (2) reinstall Windows 10 on the largest partition (approx 930GB), (3) navigate to Acer website's "Download Drivers and Manuals page --> enter "Aspire E5-573G" in the "Search by Product Model box", click on the model name when it pops up beneath the searh box --> download all the Drivers, Applications, etc. --> install all the drivers.

Going from steps (1) to (3) took me about 2-3 hours.

Great beginner's gaming laptop

i actually didn't buy this laptop from this website, i purchased mine from newegg for a cheaper price(hehe) but i felt compelled to write a review for this laptop, because its pretty killer. i can't begin to go off on how amazing this laptop is for this price. its no gaming machine by any means, but its playing games my pc cant. i can run league of legends at 65 fps, and graphically and processor heavy games liike metro last light and assassins creed rogue run just fine, mostly because it has the nvidia geforce 940 m, 8 gigs of ddr 3 dedicated ram, and an 8 gig ssd drive. it starts up very fast from shut down to on status(about thirty seconds really). has a built in 10 keypad, WHICH I LOVE, because i use it a lot while typing and for work. the battery lasts a good while too, granted you're not gaming for a long time, i have about four or five hours of life if i'm not running a graphically or processor demanding game(i can play a few games of league of legends on full battery before needing to plug in). my only gripe, and i don't know if theres a way to look this up and fix, but i keep having to turn numlock on every time i turn on the laptop. and, i kind of wish the keyboard was backlit, i don't see an option for that, and other answers have stated that it is not. also, BIG THING HERE TOO, THERE IS NO CD/DVD DRIVE, YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY AN EXTERNAL DRIVE. but the one i got was the color white, and it is gorgeous. all in all, minus those two minor setbacks,and the one slightly major, this is an amazing laptop. and it DOES have a terabyte of hard drive space, with the option to remove and build on that, and also build on the other specs. if you don't mind those other things bogging you down, i would HIGHLY reccomend this laptop.
