I bought this for my daughter and grandsons, age 8. Their old computer was just about useless as it was so slow. I set this up for them, adding the free "Open Office" since it does not come with a free word processor suite like Microsoft Works. So my daughter is doing the processing she needs to do and the boys are playing their online games. The tech advisor in our local newspaper advised readers to buy an Acer Aspire with Microsoft 7 on it. I followed his advice and am glad I did. Did I mention that the price was great, too.

I positively hate, despise and detest Win8

This is my second Acer Aspire laptop....I had to replace my other one when my 3-year-old niece decided to pour out her juice cup on my keyboard and shorted it out. I bought this for 3 reasons: 1/ It runs Win7 OS. I positively hate, despise and detest Win8. So I wanted Win7. 2/ It has the numeric keypad on the right-hand side! I love that feature and hate having to hunt and peck around the numbers. 3/ It has a DVD drive. Many newer laptops don't, but I like being able to watch movies and shows on my laptop. I use it mostly for internet searches, email and social networking like FB. I think if I tried to use for gaming (which I'm not a participant in at all) it might be a little slow, but for my purposes, I'm totally happy with it!

Nothing but trouble since day one.It came with MacAfee and Norton installed and active...WHY both? Got the black "boot" screen and called Acer tech support. The guy scolded me for having 2 anti-virus programs installed, and didn't understand me when I said it came that way. He would not help me fix the issue unless I paid him to install Windows essentials. The guy spoke terrible English and no way I'd give him my credit card number.
So, off to my local PC Doc and he fixed it. Worked OK for a few days until I noticed the same Windows updates installing day after day. It said the updates were installed successfully, but when I viewed the updates on the next screen, nothing was there. I ran the update "repair" routine and one error could not be fixed. Then I got another black "boot" screen that was frozen. It's back to the PC doc and he asked for the recovery discs....does not sound good. I will never order another PC off of the net again. Best to go right to the source like Dell.

I love my new Acer Aspire. Great computer for the price. Having been used to an HP for such a long time, I was skeptical about switching but it has been a great experience. The big plus is that it came with Windows 7 and that is what I really was looking for. I did not want to switch to Windows 8. The only issue I do have with it is the keyboard is a bit wonky. Seems like you really need to press hard on the keys, especially the space key. I can live with that though and I highly recommend this laptop. the screen resolution is awesome and it is great for watching movies on.

I just love this laptop. The color is sweet and I wanted a laptop that could run system 7 software. In system 7 you can run programs in windows XP that you can not do in system 8.
