I'm really really really happy with this laptop. It's fast, light and it looks beautiful. It is right that it comes with a lot of Acer software and other garbage, but once you clean it, it works quite fine. And I am not a normal user... I am a student that is learning programming in different languages.
The design is amazing and it doesn't seem fragile, and it is not. In fact it is very robust. The battery has a loooong life (7 hours). The touchpad is fantastic, and the Dolby speakers sound loud and clear-cut.
100% recommendable laptop, especially for students like me.

Possible power port issues?

So I bought one of these about 6 months ago. (Not from Amazon.) Speed is good. Nice and light. I love Acer anyway. So, I love it, BUT ... within 4 months, the AC power port seemed to be loose (would show power not connected if you bumped it). I took it to my local computer repair genius, and he said this power port was fine and stable (and unfortunately built-in to the motherboard) and to try a new charger. So I did, and it worked. But now it's 2 weeks later, and it's doing it again. Anybody have this happen? What did you do?

(It's still under warranty and Acer said they would look at it, but I'd rather have it repaired locally than ship it off to Acer.)

Great other than lack luster keyboard

Bought from a different online retailer for a lower price (M.C). The laptop itself is very powerful (price considering). I was amazed how snappy the (haswell based) 1.7GHz dual core was! Build quality is very good all around. Feels solid compared to some Acer's in the past. Keyboard leaves a lot to be desired but it's a sub $350 laptop, you can't have it all. Has a free RAM slot so you can bump to 8GB total. Hard drive is a standard 7mm SATA 5400RPM drive. Easily replaced with a SSD after popping off the bottom panel. Did a fresh install using an OEM windows 8 DVD and it picked up the activation without needing to do a thing. You can use the Microsoft media creation tool (google it) to make your own bootable windows 8.1 dvd or flash drive if you don't have one. It works as well. 13.3" size is hard to find in a low cost non-touch screen solution. Overall pleased with this laptop.
