Awesome For Gaming.

Well to start off this laptop is great! Not to mention it doesn't say in the product description but it has a backlit keyboard. I haven't found a game yet that this machine can't play. It's actually pretty beastly for a $600 faptop. Arma 3 runs on normal 30 fps(which is really good considering how intensive arma 3 is). Counter Strike GO runs maxed out at 80fps. GMod maxed out at 100fps. Minecraft(16 chunks) between 50 and 130, but mainly around 90. Advanced Warfare runs on high between 60-70fps with shadows off. Only complaint would be that the a key makes a squeaking noises sometimes and that maybe its just my router, but the download speed is capped at 3 mbs instead of the 15 i usually get, however when I downloaded a game at my girlfriend's house the download speed was not capped at 3 but at 10. I usually just use ethernet to download stuff now. I'll also update this after GTA 5 comes out for PC. Thanks for reading and feel free to ask questions! :)

Update: Now that GTA 5 is out and I've had a few days to play, I can honestly say that this laptop is a champion. It can play it on medium settings between 40-70 fps. Its pretty awesome.

Fast, Quiet and nice Design

Bloatware, but what can I say. $600 for a laptop that can run CS-GO on Max Settings, 60fps is good for me. Sure, the screen is 720p, but it's not really that MUCH of a difference on a 1080p, unless you are eye candy. You can also plug in a 1080p monitor though to overcome that. Touchpad could have been better, as well as the wireless internet card. Looking forward to seeing a matte black design too on newer versions of this product.

Acer leading in laptops under $600

I purchased this laptop a few days ago, out of the box it was very nice (after removing annoying bloatware) I checked out the laptop as it was intended to be used and i have absolutely no complaints.... but thats not what i wanted it for...

I Did a clean install of windows 7 and ran into some minor problems with drivers especially for networking. Manually have to go dig for those drivers now. The website is lacking in downloads for this item (gives me a page error every time for this product) But i cant remove any stars from this because it was designed for win 8.1.... Installing 8.1 was really simple with most hardware being detected instantly.

For the money it's PERFECT!

Here's a quick break down of useful information on this laptop.

- Gaming

The first thing I want to talk about is overclocking. You NEED to use the 347.88 drivers to OC. The 350.12 drivers do not let you overclock properly (at least not for me). Once you have 347.88 installed, just download MSI afterburner and install. I managed to get +135 core and +250 on the ram. This gave me the most stable performance (I don't like to push things TOO far). I will add that I use the NotePal U3 cooler pad. I haven't checked temps without the cooler pad, but with it and the OC I rarely hit the upper 50s (80% of the time it's low to mid 50s). THAT'S INSANE.
To understand my performance you need to know my NVidia settings. I have everything set to high quality. I also clamp AF filtering AND use SSAA for transparency AA. All of these settings reduce performance by about 7-12fps (to me, the difference is worth it). The OC gets you about 10-15fps more. With that said, I can honestly say this laptop can run anything you want. BF4 on medium setting will net you about 40-50fps depending on the map. Other less demanding games can usually be maxed or near maxed at native resolution.

- Utility

This laptop does have a few bloat ware programs but it's no big deal, just uninstall them. The screen is ok, nothing special. The HDD is decent for a HDD, but nothing special. The looks of the laptop itself is rather sleek. It hasn't felt warm to the touch, especially with the cooler. The backlit keys are fairly well and evenly lit. No random crashes or anything crazy that might be related to shoddy craftsmanship. Overall this laptop is WELL worth the money.

- Bottom line

CPU won't bottleneck anything, and is fast enough for any task you have to include gaming.Read more ›

The keyboard is easy to use and just the right amount of force feedback, the backlighting is great in all conditions, the screen is great (from straight on) and the system itself runs very smoothly and quickly. This laptop is amazing especially if your lookin. For a big finer gaming laptop in this price range it's your best option. (Trust me I know). I looked for hours upon hours and this is by far the best it even runs gta v u just have to lower the resolution a bit. It also has a back lit key board wich means the key board lights up. It's pretty fast and I've had it for about a month and have not had one problem that didn't take more than 5 minutes two solve. It also has a great keyboard and works great for flash games. It's also pretty light and travel well. Another cool feture about it is Nvidia witch is a verry good thing for graphics. So if your looking for the best laptop in this price range (especially for gaming) I would definitly buy this.
