Annoying trackpad, and very unfriendly for upgrading RAM or HD

I bought this on sale at newegg, I'm not too impressed with this model!

I wanted to like this laptop, it is cheap for an i5 system but it has some major flaws. The track pad is so sensitive my wife refuses to use it as she gets mad at it. I can use it pretty good most of the time without getting too mad at it, but it took a week for me to get to the point I can use it some. Unlike other trackpads there is no way to adjust the sensitivity of the touch in the driver settings.

The WIFI may disconnect randomly as you use it, but I figured out it was when my wifi at home was congested. My other laptops don't have that problem, but I changed a setting on my router and now the wifi on this laptop is stable. So, beware you may have issues depending on your router settings. I noticed another reviewer on NewEgg stated they had a wifi problems as well. I uninstalled the wifi driver, got the very latest and reinstalled but the router changes were the only thing that seemed to help with wifi card. Hopefully you will be ok with your router, but this card is more sensitive than the cards in my other laptops for sure.

There is NO easy way to upgrade the ram or HD. There is no small access panel, and I found a teardown online, this thing has to be almost completely disassembled and the mother board removed to upgrade the RAM.

A very good low-budget computer

An extremely good computer for the money. I got this model computer off Newegg when it was retailing for under 400 dollars and I have been extremely happy with it's performance, battery life, memory speed, etc.
This computer is almost as powerful as my old gaming class PC from Gateway (P-7811FX) and gets comparable or better performance on nearly all components, graphics card withstanding. Even the graphics card performance is within 20% of what the graphics card on the P-7811FX got.

The only issue major I have had with this computer is that in order to replace components? You have to take the computer ENTIRELY apart. As a A+ certified person, that is not an issue for me (it is a day at the park for me using the dis-assembly guides for the E5-571G series, which are pretty much identical to this computer save for that those models include a DVD drive) but for the average person, that would be an issue sending them to a computer repair person or the Geek Squad to have their computer fixed if some issue cropped up.

There is also a slight/minor issue of "There is a Function + F7 way to turn off the trackpad that is not well documented!" Someone could accidentally hit that key combination and be wondering (especially if they use an external driver updater to keep up with drivers as I do) why their trackpad stopped working. Acer should have documented that feature a little bit better than they did and/or put a program on the computer that monitored whether that key combination had been used to turn off the trackpad or not.

Terrible internal design

Bought this at Microcenter today, along with memory upgrade stick for it. Terrible internal design. Locating the memory expansion slot is apparently beyond me (you have to essentially disassemble the entire lap top to get to it) and getting it back together so it works is a feat worthy of an olympic event due to how the key connection ribbons are designed (and fastened). And then there's getting the battery out - maybe I have a defective part, but I'm mystified as to how to get it out, and yes, I'm pushing down the detent that should release it... I should add that I've worked directly with building PC's and repairing laptops for nearly 15 years now so it's not like I'm a novice.

Hate it. Never been this angry at an inanimate object before.
