I wanted to buy the Dell but this laptop offered the upgraded 802.11AC radio over the Dell. It was also a bit less expensive. I love the backlit keyboard, touch screen, 8 GB of RAM, great graphics, and 1 TB hard drive. The laptop is very stable and fast with the 2.2 GHz i5 Intel CPU.

This is a nice laptop. It's well constructed, battery life is excellent, it charges FAST, like I was below 50% an hour or so ago and it's almost charged, touchscreen is great, not too much give to the screen, great for scrolling, I just kind of grab an edge and scroll websites with my thumb. A must have for windows 8.1. The trackpad is better than my 1000$ HP. the bluetooth connects great to all my devices. Also, it is almost silent. the thing that keeps this out of the luxury laptop range is that the webcam is not good, and the sound system is sub par. i have a oontz curve bluetooth speaker, it was cheap and sounds great, and i am not particular about the webcam. as far as its specs, it runs cheif architect x7, which impressed me. while its processor is not strong enough, i guess it does this with its turbo boost capability. the only real knock is my exploring the options of tech support with acer was not promising. if it never has an issue, great. If it does though.... i anticipate it being a hassle. online reviews support this idea.
all around, i recommend it. your getting basically a windows version of a macbook knock off for less than half the price. and windows 10 is coming out soon... so if you hate 8, 10 is supposed to be the remedy for you 8 haters!

Display disappoints

A fine computer, except that the resolution maxes out at 1366 x 768, far less than the 1600 x 900 on the OLDER Lenovo laptop which I am replacing now (Sept 2015). This is extremely disappointing, because the text is about twice the size as in my 5 year old Lenovo (which also has an i5 processor. Because the graphics seem to be built into the processor, I fear I am stuck with a downgrade, when my intention was to upgrade. Beware of poor display.
