Powers up Gateway SA1 Laptop. Multiple Sellers Cause Review Discrepencies

The adapter on my original Gateway power cord died after 2.5 years, which in itself, was disappointing. I wasn't too worried because I had a decent adapter kit with a bunch of extra tips. Unfortunately, my specific Gateway laptop turns out not to be powerable even by the power cord tips that fit into it correctly. I tried 3 different kits without success. So if you're in that same boat, you'll be relieved to know that this power cord DOES work with a Gateway model SA1 laptop.

There is a lot of contradictory factual information in these reviews that has nothing to do with reviewers' opinions. For example, some reviews imply that this cord is incredibly short. One review says the cord has no identifying marks on it at all, while another review says it even has a green indicator light. Some reviews say that the adapter section can be combined with the wall-outlet section of one's original factory cord to increase the cord's length. Other reviews say this is impossible.

I think the discrepancies are caused by the fact that Amazon sources this product from more than one seller. For example, when I purchased it a few weeks ago, it was being provided by "Better Stuff Lower Price," while today it is being provided by "Laptop Mate." These sellers, in turn, don't all necessarily source the product from the same Chinese factory. So, over time, not everyone leaving a review on this product receives the same version of the cord as everyone else.

My original factory power cord had a 3-pronged plug for the wall outlet and a 3-pronged adapter. It was 12' feet long. It did not have an indicator light.

The replacement cord I purchased is 8' long and does not have any indicator light. It has a 2-pronged wall-outlet end and a 2-pronged adapter.Read more ›

The product broke down on the 1st day.. This is the 2nd one I have bought and both broke down within the 1st week. The sell will return but its a hassle. Save your money and time. My Son pluged it in to try and charge the laptop and it cooked the AC adaptor port. The PC Is now junk. PLEASE DO NOT BUY. Do not buy any items from AMAZON that dont carry a name brand that you trust.

The product was a perfect fit and worked just like an original. I would have given it five stars, but unlike the original, the plug into the laptop is a straight and not a 90 degree.

Would highly recommend as a functional and cheap replacement. Super fast shipping, I did standard free shipping and it was here in two days.
