Tons of Features, Beautiful Bamboo Finish

I was just saying yesterday how much I love sitting on my chaise and reading or working but don't have a place to put a cup and other things. When I'm reading or working I also end up with a crick in my neck from looking down so much.

This laptop stand is a wonderful solution. It is made of bamboo so it looks sharp. There are a couple of slightly rougher edges underneath that could potentially snag on finer clothing so you may need to be careful. The top surface is large, perfect for a laptop, book, tablet and work papers. The middle can be raised up to multiple angles and has a (removable) lip to stop books and things sliding down. There is also a very small drawer on the side. The legs can be raised up and down to different heights as well.

If you have a favorite chair you want to use this in, I would suggest measuring for width because it may hit the arms. However, you can keep the legs of this folded in and use it resting on top of your chair arms. The whole thing folds very flat for sliding next to a chair while not in use.

I've been looking for the perfect book/laptop stand for awhile and this one fits the ticket. Tons of features and adjustments and a high quality work surface. Sample provided for review.

This Is My Favorite

There would be only one reason that I can think of not to purchase this product. There are lighter weight models available. Unfortunately the one that I have, wobbles so much that I find it almost unusable. Still interested?

Now not everybody likes the same things, but for me this is perfect. I've been bedridden three times in the past four years due to surgery, so I've been looking for one of these that I like, for what seems like the inevitable next time that I'll need it. By the way, you'll pull this out of the box ready to use, except for pushing in the stop on the top to keep your laptop from sliding off when it's tilted.

My initial reaction when I pulled this product out of the box was very good. It's not quite fine furniture, but close and certainly doesn't feel cheap. If you've shopped for wood TV trays you'll know what I mean, there are maybe three grades and the expensive models are nice, but they're still TV trays.

I'll describe this starting with the top of this contraption. It's 21 and a quarter wide and 13 and a quarter inches deep, wider but not as deep as a TV tray. 14 and a half inches of it on the left side, will tilt up and this allows me to use a mouse on the right side. This uses a good mechanism with five points of adjustment, a stiff, hinged rectangular, metal piece will drop into any one of the five slots provided for adjustment. I'll assume that you noticed the sun ray air vent that it has, but maybe you missed the indent for a cup.

Just under the right side there is is a pull out drawer that's about five by five inches and an inch deep for media or whatever you want to store. I was surprised by the nice fit and that it has a magnetic close, like you'll sometimes see on kitchen cabinets, nice.Read more ›

Well thought out design, quality craftsmanship

This is an exceptionally well-made laptop desk, even more impressive than it looks in the picture. They took the time to package it really well for shipping. The craftsmanship is very nice with sturdy dove-tail joinery. The bamboo is strong, and the surfaces are completely smooth with soft edges. The legs are adjustable in height, so you can use it in bed or in a chair and work at various levels. They fold flat, so you can easily store the table out of the way. The surface area where you sit your laptop or tablet has air vents to prevent overheating...a well thought-out design. This surface area is also adjustable so you can lay your laptop flat or tilt it at an angle. There's an indentation for your coffee cup, and there's a small drawer where you can store a pen, flash drive, etc. My husband normally sits at a large desk for hours each day using his laptop. Since the first day it arrived in the mail, he has been sitting in the soft, comfy living room chair using this little desk instead. He absolutely loves it and told me "you should give this a GREAT review...definitely 5 stars!" And so it is....

Very good fit & finish made with eco-friendly bamboo.

One of my hobbies is woodworking, so naturally I examined this item with a critical eye.

The Aleratec stand is made of all-natural bamboo, an eco-friendly, readily renewable resource, durable sturdy wood that requires no external finishing additives and is low maintenance.
The workmanship is very good, the fit and finish is excellent. Edges are smooth and rounded. Corner joints are dovetailed (not nailed/screwed together). Hinges are well secured and moving pieces are secured by magnetic closure - as found in superior quality cabinets.
The four legs fold down for storage, and when fully deployed they can be extended from 8” to 11” (bottom to table surface) using the wing nut tighteners.
A swirling sunburst design (8” diameter) is carved on the “lift up” portion of the table to allow for proper ventilation of laptop fan. About ⅔ of the table top (13.5” x 14.5”) can be tilted to five different viewing angles and held in place with a strong rectangular metal hinge that fits into carved deep slots. The remaining flat surface (13.5” x 6.75”) to the right is stationary; can be used for writing notes or moving the mouse. A carved indentation (2.75”), by the upper corner, accommodates a cup.
On the right side is a small drawer (5” x 5” x 1”) to store cords, flash drives etc. That is where I found the precut slat of bamboo and pegs that form the ledge on the bottom of the tilting tray, which prevents the laptop from slipping off.
No instructions are included but the initial setup and all further adjustments are intuitive and easy. No tools required.

I used the Alertec stand sitting up in bed, in an easy chair and a (low) patio table. It never shook or wobbled. It made work on the laptop much more comfortable with little or no back/neck strain.Read more ›
