Be sure of your SSD choices....

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the SSD slots and what will work with these machines. The slots themselves look like PCIe slots, but are apparently not. The specs say Sata SSD. The m.2 "standard" (which apparently is not one) is supposed to apply.
The machine does run hot as many have noted on other reviews. Right where you rest your hands, too. They left out the optical drive supposedly to make room for more cooling and drives, but apparently then took away the extra standard 2.5 slot that the previous models had. Good or bad, this might be spelled out better in the sales pitches, as well as the Amazon recommendations for the correct SSD boards that fit the machine.
I spent a day researching and trying to decipher who was right and who was wrong on the forums.

We'll see what happens when the SSD card arrives. Luckily, I didn't unseal the SSD I bought to go with the machine, and B.B. took it back.
You have to dig a little to figure out that the "4 SSD slots" are not the old style, and perhaps I would have assumed as such if I was keeping up with this tech as much as I used to.
Apparently, there is no slowing the Nuevo-Patent Fence Builders who change standards more than their MoonPie-crusted underwear.
The machine itself is pretty fast, the screen is nice and clear. We'll see how the extra macro keys work out later.

WARNING. I was DENIED warranty service by DELL. DO NOT BUY

Dell/Alienware refused my warranty service after my laptop broke because it's garbage quality.

Called many times and got the run around. Tech came and brought wrong parts. Afterwards never replied and my service was listed as COMPLETED even though NOTHING was done.

Tech sent was incompetent and needed my assistance to open the system. How pathetic is that ? Person sent look like some random wal-mart shelf stocker. Absolutely no idea what she was doing...

**CAUTION** YOU WILL HAVE MAJOR HEADACHE calling in for warranty service. Just google your own research. I am not the only one who has terrible quality and refused warranty service.

Looked great, but was let down

Looked very promising, but unfortunately did not deliver. The WiFi adapter in this computer is junk and it's sad that a computer that costs $1500 can't maintain a stable WiFi connection. The WiFi will constantly disconnect and reconnect every 10 minutes or so. After looking on the Dell forums I tried to download new drivers for the WiFi adapter but unfortunately this did not help. Regrettably it is being returned and hopefully Dell can fix this issue in newer models. But until then I will not purchase an Alienware again.
