My wife bought and assembled this in less than two hours. The pieces were well marked, and the instructions, clear and concise. It is very well made (it's adjustable), and the cherry wood and black is a nice color combination. We were pricing a laptop desk for a few months, and Amazon's price can't be beat. The quality surpasses the ones in office supply stores which were way more expensive. Highly recommend.

I was a little hesitant about buying this due to some of the negative reviews, but I must say that I'm so glad I ignored them. I love this little cart, it is perfect for using my laptop in the bed. I'm thinking about getting another one for the family room. Assembly was a breeze, took me about 20 minutes.

Complete Disappointment...

I really wish I could rate this lower than one star. I understand products have their anomalies and that not all are perfect but this was just a mess. The first thing I noticed wrong was on the main board, where your laptop, for example, would go. There are little metal anchors inset on the board for screws to be screwed into. One of these metal pieces was not flush with the surface, therefore preventing the bracket to be secured tightly. This left this part a bit wobbly. The table portion also completely lacked sturdiness. It felt so flimsy that a heavy book might have broken the bar. Once completed, my small laptop was placed on the larger board. It sat overnight. When I awoke, the weld at the bar between the two table pieces had completely detached from the bar and was sagging. This table lasted about twelve hours. Horrible craftsmanship. Assembly was easy enough and the wheels were made of a weak plastic but rolled okay on carpet and tile.

Poor quality...terrible for Alienware Laptops

My Alienware laptop weighs about 12.5 lbs. As soon as I placed it on this cart, the cart began leaning about 2 inches. This cart is built for maybe an iPad or an Netbook, but definitely not for an Alienware laptop. Also, the weld quality of the metal on this stand is terrible. Instead of full welds along the joints, they put spot welds, which will not hold up over time.

If you are looking for something pretty to put your iPad on, this is the stand for you...otherwise, I would strongly avoid this product.

I picked up this item for a ridiculously cheap price...none-the-less; I am writing this review from my computer that is fairly securely sitting on the surface of this cart. The parts were very well marked and the instructions were very clear. Everything you need for assembly is included in the box with the exception of a phillips head screw driver. If assembled properly, it is relatively sturdy and the perfect answer to using your laptop in bed or beside the bed. The wheels are very smooth and the fake wood surface is actually quite convincing and matches the other cherry stained furniture I have. Granted, I would not have purchased it at it's full retail price or even half of that. I've been needing something like this for quite some time and when I saw this on sale I couldn't resist. Some people said it was wobbly...I have a flat, hard floor surface and this is not the case. The main stem is slightly flexible but not unstable and typing on it, from my point of view is not a problem. I should add that I have it bolted at the lowest height setting which probably contributes to the relative stability; I can imagine how raising it up would make it somewhat less stable.

I'm very happy with this purchase. It does what it's supposed to, looks pretty good and is sometimes available at rock bottom prices.

Altra/Ameriwood Wobbly, untrusted cart

I bought this altra laptop cart as a direct replacement of another mobile laptop cart on wheels. I have several issues which I will point out here.
1. I bought from amazon warehouse deals, it was listed as "Like New" but came with damaged parts.
2. This table is EXTREMELY wobbly compared to an almost similar but older model table I had. I am going to try to come up with a brace to go from the legs to the top to help support it, but I shouldn't HAVE to. The weak spot for the wobble is the new design of how the top part mounts to the bottom h frame in the center. one post with 4 screws holding up mouse, laptop, hands leaning on front, etc.. but barely NO support. Eventually the spot welds will come apart and I guarantee you, it won't be another table bought over the internet without testing in person first.
3. The height adjustment is not designed well at all. the previoustable you could loosen a knob and get prescise height for Your situation, but with this table it is either too high or bottomed out. Very unhappy with lack of the fine tune adjustment.
4. The mouse side needs to be adjustable too, spend more on materials and make a product to be proud of Ameriwood.

I would not recommend Dorel/Ameriwood/Altra carts unless they improve stability and build quality. It just FEELS CHEAP.

I was a little worried about some of the reviews for this product, so I wanted to leave a comment about my experiences putting this together and it's construction quality.

A few reviews say it's wobbly. This is to be expected for a pedastal cart (only one support after all); it's not going to be completely stable. The important thing is that it doesn't wobble /much/, as in, it doesn't impact my ability to use it.

All the needed items and instructions were included. Instructions were concise. You will need your own phillips (+) screwdriver for assembly in addition to the allen wrench and cresent wrench included in the kit. The only problem I encountered in constructing it was a user error. I checked the instructions to make sure it wasn't their fault ( perhaps a failure to mention), and yup, it the solution to my needless problem was in the instructions, I just didn't pay attention (always read the instructions completely before you do something!).

Pieces when hand tightened are sturdy. The only plastic parts are the wheels, the hand-tightened screws for height adjustment ( 2 as opposed to one for stability - this will make it harder to adjust the height at a moment's notice, but the sacrifice of time over stability is reasonable. ) and a small peice that covers the screw heads on the bottom pedastel.

I am very happy with my purchase and I can't wait to use it!
