Take control of your workspace. With the Anker® USB 3.0 Docking Station, coordination has never been easier: route your peripherals through one device, so you can come and go as you please.

Work at the helm.
The mother of all hubs. Bring your printers, scanners, storage devices, monitors, speakers, routers, keyboards, mice, and webcams together, so that all you have to do is worry about one cable. Turn your laptop into a command center, then, once you're finished, unplug for instant portability. Our promise to you is convenience - how you use it is up to you.

A multitasker's dream.
Add up to two monitors, expanding your control over active applications. High-resolution displays (both HDMI and DVI) will change the way you stream video, surf the web, and manage operation. Perfect for traders, gamers, and business professionals, but adaptable for use in any environment. Don't confine yourself to one screen. Go out and expand your horizons.

Dynamic design.
Not only does this docking station consolidate your devices, it manages their performance, too. A smart chip prioritizes bandwidth usage, so even when running at full capacity, you get smooth, stable connections. With a sturdy, zinc-alloy base stand, the docking station slips easily into any upright space. If one is not available, remove the stand for even tighter, horizontal placement.

Note:
• Unfortunately, the DisplayLink driver cannot be installed on Macs. As a result, the Ethernet, DVI and HDMI ports will not work. The USB connections, however, should still function normally.
• For Windows 8 users: You may find there are compatibility problems with the current driver. Please go to the Displaylink official website to download the latest driver.

This had no reviews when I purchased it. Compared to all the other USB 3.0 docks out there I went this route strictly on two reasons;

1) Anker products in general are 4 to 5 star rated items. So I was able to establish trust in the name even though I have never purchased an electronic device from them before.

2) When looking at other options many of the reviews were not very good. Most of the 3.0 docks were 3 stars rated at best... so not very convincing to me.

I have a new Lenovo Thinkpad Twist running Windows 8... and I almost bought the Lenovo branded 3.0 hub for it. The weak user review average kept me form doing so.... which made me look for another option.

That was the decision part of the purchase.... I just hooked up the hub.... it auto updated and configured itself (took a few minutes).... and then I was ready to rock and roll!

I have a triple monitor setup now.... the Thinkpad 12.5" screen... plus two 20" monitors! I have one monitor setup as DVI to DVI and the second monitor is setup as DVI to HDMI (purchased BlueRigger Cables for this setup, very nice stuff). So now I can take all my work and spread it across any of the 3 screens.... see attached pic. (Notice Dock sitting under the two larger screens on my desk)

I have a USB printer, USB Hard Drive and network cable plugged into the dock. All work as intended.

I have two cables hooked into my laptop... the USB 3.0 cable that goes to the dock.... and the power cable.

I am also using the onboard speakers on the laptop just to maximize desk space.

So all-in-all.... this was the perfect purchase for my work needs.

Bought this with the thought that this is similar to other hubs using the displaylink DL-3900 chip....and I was right. If you want the Mac to work, you need to go on to the displaylink website and get the graphics driver. Only question in my mind right now is the ethernet port which worked for a while and then went into a plugged----unplugged cycle. I unplugged the dock and replugged it in and everything was fine again, but I'll keep an eye on it.

So, even though it says it won't work for MAC, that probably is because it shipped without MAC drivers which came out later.

The instructions on how to use the docking station are completely inadequate. It is described as if it is a "plug and play" type device and in my case it certainly wasn't. I was about 5 minutes away from returning it on the third day, before I figured it out. I have a Toshiba Satellite L75 laptop with Windows 7. The software in the box is a year old and caused my computer to freeze completely anytime I visited a site embedded with a video requiring Adobe Flash or Shockwave, like CNN.com or many Facebook pages. In other words, my computer crashed constantly. Do not install the software that comes with this dock. Go to the DisplayLink site and download the latest version. The software in the box appeared to install properly the first time, but actually didn't and I had to uninstall and reinstall. And it still didn't work properly. Most of the time, the display would freeze trying to link to my HP external monitor. I tried the "check for updates" and it would never connect to the Microsoft server. In fact, even in the updated software I eventually found, this has never worked. I went to the Microsoft updates and it never showed any updates available.

After two days I found the DisplayLink site where the most recent version of the software could be downloaded. This fixed most of the problems and the computer can now play flash videos and will connect to the monitor if I boot it up first and then connect the dock. That appears to be necessary on my computer if I want the external display to connect via DVI properly. But nowhere is that in the instructions or troubleshooting.

I purchased this and used it with my Lenovo Twist and Ubuntu 13.04. That is my operating system of choice so I was hoping to find a way to make it work in there. The sound, USB, and Ethernet worked out of the box. The video, however, did not work and there is currently no support for usb3 versions of DisplayLink USB Video. That is not their problem though. They do not say it will work. In windows 8, it all worked perfectly.

Pros:
1) Well built
2) 6 USB Ports
3) Standardized drivers for Linux on all but the video
4) Worked great in Windows
5) Looks nice

Cons:
1) No video in Linux yet
2) No VGA port, only HDMI and DVI

That is about it for me. I am a fan of it and will use it for my home office. I will just have to use a single USB3 and a display port adapter to get everything docked when I get home. That is a lot better then a USB hub, video adapter, sound cable, Ethernet cable, and phone charger. Great unit for the price. If the chipset drivers become available for Linux, it will deserve 5 stars.
