It is unfortunate that this manufacture is very vague on what will and will not fit in this bag. Here is what you need to know:
I have a $2800 15in macbook pro retina display. I am a university student in the western side of Washington state and I walk to school here. It rains a lot in this area and my mac gets wet sometimes. That is a crime against apple. This keeps my laptop dry. It has a two zip-locks on it and the velcro flap. There are removable cushion pads in there. Those are nice. I can fit my laptop, those pads, and my iPad (which has a thick case of its own) in there no problem. I can fit all this in my backpack if I bend the corners of the case in a little.

This product CAN NOT fit 17 inch laptops This inside measurement is 15.5 inches up to the air lock seal. Do not buy if you want to fit anything longer than a 15 inch laptop.

Roomy, quality material, easy to trust seals, happy consumer.

I recommend this product.

Fits my 15'' Macbook Pro exactly. Not too bulky, but enough padding that I feel good about having it next to other stuff in my bag. The waterproof zip-locks are sturdy (plus the extra protection of the fold over velcro) and I bet you could drop the whole thing in the bath and you'd have no problem. This is really important to me because my commute has outdoor parts (and I'm from Seattle), and I also do outdoor work that requires me to both have my computer and be out camping for weeks at a time. This is the perfect solution for protecting my investment.

The handle on the top is really handy too, in case I am taking my computer somewhere without my whole backpack- I can carry it safely without clutching it to my chest like you do with a traditional laptop sleeve. Also it's red, which is a big plus since red is so awesome.

Good, but bulky.

Complaining about it being bulky is kind of dumb, because well, it's necessarily bulky due to the padding and water proofing.

I got this to protect my laptop on rainy days when biking. My bag is already waterproof, so this was really more of a "double insurance" kind of thing.

First of all, on waterproofing:

The Ziplock style closure is EXTREMELY finicky. Sometimes it's secure, sometimes it's not. I would NOT trust this to be waterproof in any kind of super active environment (water sport type activities).

I would throw this into the category of extremely water resistant, but not water proof. It's probably waterproof under ideal conditions, but even the slightest goof on your part will render it pretty much useless.

The ziplock closure is VERY easy to not seal correctly.

As for size, it fits my 15" toshiba just fine with room to spare.

For the right application, it's probably a great bag. For me, it's just something to throw over the laptop on wet days for a little extra protection. Good luck!

Using this with a 2012 Macbook Pro Retina 15" - the long dimension fits very well. Lots of extra room on the short edge, I guess for laptops with a taller screen. With that extra space, I'm able to fit the laptop in the padded internal sleeve, as well as an iPad in its own padded case sitting on top. I like the double zip seals, very confidence-inspiring and there's a clear tactile feel and sound as they zip all the way closed. The velcro flap seal might only slow down a drenching a tiny bit, but it could help protect the zips from accidentally unzipping. I like that the interior padded sleeve is removable, as it's often unnecessary (for instance, with a bag that already has a padded sleeve). Without the padding, the waterproof sleeve is quite minimal in bulk. Mine weighed in at 5oz for the outer sleeve alone, 2oz for the padding. The color is a little more muted than in the photos here. I'd like to see some natural earth tones as well, just as an aside.

Ok, so it claims to be
- tough
- waterproof ( for no more than brief immersion )
- big enough for a 15" laptop

Here's the evaluation on those points.
- tough: YES
The outer liner is durable. It's not going to snag and fray if it comes into contact with Velcro. I'd need something sharp to cut it.
The waterproof liner is thicker than the garbage bags that previously protected my laptop.

- waterproof: NO
The plastic liner is waterproof. So are the welded seams. The double zip-lock closure is NOT waterproof, even for immersion times as short as 5 seconds. Water leaks in where the zip-lock closures meet the sides of the bag. That said, I need this to protect my laptop in case rain soaks through my courier bag during my 20' bike commute. I expect this case to meet that requirement. However, if I were riding longer, or there was any chance that my laptop would actually be submerged, this case would not be sufficient.

- holds a 15" laptop
It holds my 15" MBP Retina with ease. In fact, it's a little too large to fit into my courier bag. It could have been smaller and still held my laptop, but if I had a 1.5" thick monstrosity, it would still fit into this case.

Other cons:
You have to seal the zip-lock closures by feel, since you can't see them through the black outer layer. That means you have to take your time to make sure that they are both really all the way closed.
