Pros: WiFi discovered my network and printer (an older Canon Pixma620) automatically from express setup. I'm a Windows 7 user, but the Windows 8.1 is friendly enough. Came bundled with one year of Office365. Asus gives you over 100gb cloud space too. Micro HDMI is great to have. Long Battery life. Ultralight weight. Good keyboard feel.
.
Cons: Only 32 bit Windows 8.1 version. 32 gb hard drive, systems used 12gb.

Additional Comments: Great for email and creating Office docs. My desktop just crashed, and this buys a little time to figure what system that I want to clone my old hard drive to. Found this at Staples for $150 during the Presidents Day sell. I really like this tiny devil a lot. I like it better than my Apple Air, cause it's Windows.

Verified Purchase
I purchased this computer as a replacement for my main office computer.
I have had my Asus x205ta signature series for a few days now and have customized Windows to my liking. I have done all manner of simple tasks so far, from Internet surfing and video streaming to file management and csv import.
Firstly, I must say that I am flatly amazed with what Asus has done here, especially while pushing such an aggressive price point. The matte finish is very nice, no fingerprints! The super-wide touchpad is a refreshing aspect as multi-touch gestures are much more usable with it. I have had 0 issues with the touchpad as of yet. The screen is fine, with little washout, good contrast and wide viewing angles. Overall, the build quality is excellent as I frankly expected less at $200. Running 32bit Windows 8.1 with bing, without a single hitch yet, I am very impressed my $200 computer. A caveat: Do not purchase this machine for PC gameplay, video editing or music creation as you will be very disappointed. Those machines cost more than $200 so please leave the bad performance reviews on machines that deserve them. This thing is an office beast! It also plays Netflix, YouTube and the like with no problems, it's just not gonna get you WOW or GTA 5. Anyway, it is sooooo lightweight, making it easier to carry than any other computer I have had yet. Also, since I have an assortment of micro SD cards I think the 32gb drive is more than adequate. Lastly, and this is a minor issue for typists, is keyboard flex. There is none on the Asus x205ta that I could feel. At all.
In short, considering it's processor and specs, this is the best overall machine for its price that I have EVER SEEN. I am beyond pleased!

I picked up this laptop at the Microsoft store (online) during a promo for $149. For this machine at that price, 5 stars.

I've been looking at these little barebones netbooks for a while now, and was really leaning toward the HP Stream series after watching Lon Seidman's reviews on YouTube (specifically the HP Stream 11). I was looking for something light & cheap, for light computer use. I needed to install Scrivener, and be able to use Remote Desktop for work.

I checked out the Stream 11 at the local Walmart, and I liked it pretty well, except for the matte screen. My eyes are getting older and the matte screen just seemed too dim to me.

In contrast, the ASUS has a glossy finish on the screen which I think really helps. Some reviewers have complained about the display on this laptop (and the other cheap 11-inch laptops), but I think it's fine. Yes viewing angles aren't spectacular, but this compares very well with the HP Chromebook 13 that I own, and as long as you look at it straight-on, it's fine.

Performance-wise, it is what I expected. I purchased this laptop with barebones use in mind: Light web browsing, Scrivener word processing, listening to Music (I have an Xbox Music subscription which ties in nicely with Windows 8.1), maybe watching some online video. I've noticed that sometimes Google Docs is a little slow to open up, and sometimes there is a little lag when typing in Google Chrome, but it's fine. As I'm typing this I have 9 Chrome tabs open, Music playing, and typing this review responds just fine.

I don't plan on loading a lot of software on this. I have Minecraft, Chrome, Opera (more on this later), and a handful of Windows apps (Netflix, Music, OneDrive, etc) and have around 10GB available on the disk.

This is a handy light computer that does not cost much. I got it for under $150.00 new. To say it is light and very portable is an understatement. Because it comes with 2 gigs of memory it handles windows 8.1 with no problem. Many have had issue with the touch pad I did not it works fine and it works really good on the windows 8 tile screen. Because I have other windows 8 computers set up took maybe 30 min.

One of the major things I like about it is the ports for this price you get 2 usb 2 ports a micro SD slot and a micro HDMI which is the port I really wanted. I own a lot of digital movies and music videos so hooking it up to a tv is very easy. The screen is HDMI 720P which is ok after all it is not my main computer. The speakers they are LOUD very LOUD this is the only laptop that I do not have the sound on max.

Is this the perfect laptop out of the box the answer is no but when you look at the cost to what it can do you have a great value on hand. To improve it you will need to fill the micro sd slot with a nice size card. Depending on what you will be doing I would say 32 gigs is good 64gigs may be the sweet spot and I heard it can handle a 128gigs but unless you have a very large music collection I would have to say this is overkill. the system comes with 32gigs and after windows and the recovery partition you are left with about 15gigs.

The look and feel of the laptop does not say $150.00 it looks and feels like a higher priced laptop but not saying it is worth hundreds more. I plan on adding the micro SD card just not sure 32 or 64 then I will add MS Office and if I can make it happen right I want to add Itunes as long as I can get it installed on the SD not the "C" drive. I am very happy with this purchase and you will be also as long as you are not looking for this computer to do too much. Keep it simple, light and easy and you would have no problem enjoying this laptop.
