I purchased my laptop on October 7, with 2 days shipment. Before using the computer. I tried to charge it for a over 8 hours, the battery wouldn't charge. The very next day., I contacted Michael electronics2 to exchange the laptop. On October 29, twenty days later. I received another laptop from Michael Electronic2. The brand new replacement laptop also had a defective battery, my replacement laptop appear to be used. The replacement laptop will also be returned. This time I want a refund

The first one I bought crashed twice within the first three hours of use. It was also extremely slow. I believed it to be a defect and took it back.

The second one was also slow, no matter how many useless apps and updates I did to it. Finally the next morning with it, the computer completely seized going from the app screen to the desktop.

Worst experience of my life.

Electronic-wise anyway.

The reviews indicating it was slow are not grossly exaggerated. I'm pretty sure an etch-a-sketch responds more quickly. The mouse pad is a little touchy and somewhat counterintuitive. Navigating between Microsoft and homescreen is also more difficult than it needs to be. However, as I have not upgraded to Windows 8, it could just be I'm not used to it.
Bottom line, it's still better than a Chromebook because you can use LogMeIn and it has Microsoft products. If you're travelling for work and need something light for travel, this will work nicely. If you are looking for a replacement laptop or have to work for than a few hours at a time, keep shopping. You'll want something much faster.

Honestly, you're probably better off with a tablet; but this can compile code, which I need.
You won't be running crysis, or probably even minecraft.
But it can run word, excel, firefox, matlab, etc.
BUT even on a blazing fast internet connection, it can't stream HD video on netflix (not enough resources to run that much data through silverlight, i guess)

Really just an oversized cell phone wtih this processor, and I mean an old cell phone. It appears that Asus attempting to provide a touchscreen laptop with windows 8 with 1 Ghz was a waste of time. Slow as heck, with browser taking at one point 5 minutes to open up? lol. What a joke---I can here them now-----"sell it to the Americans, they will buy anything."

It struggles to play YouTube videos smoothly, which should tell you everything you need to know. The low amount of RAM is pretty lazy on their part. I needed a computer for work, and this was about all I could afford, so I got it, but it's pretty weak.
