Product Description

Style:Single Display and Laptop

The Visidec Focus VF-AT-NBC is 2 items packed together to form one unit. Each outer carton will contain 2 individual packed items (VF-AT colored carton & VF-AT-NK brown carton). These 2 items together form the complete unit. This allows for a dual display configuration that features a single monitor and notebook next to each other in the most ergonomic way for enhanced dual screen productivity. This elegant polished aluminum mounting system has two independent arms that can each be set to the optimum height and distance from the user to ensure a healthy posture and reduce the potential for occupational injury for notebook users, with the added benefit of a dual screen configuration. It also allows you to align your notebook screen level with your monitor. The overall effect of the system is a more ergonomic and dynamic workspace, leaving the user free to achieve their productive and creative potential. The accessory arm can be tilted by 70 degrees up and 70 degrees down and panned through 180 degrees, and positioned in and out for the ideal focal length.

Update 9/2015: Purchased in Jan 2014
After almost two years with this mount there are three major problems that have come up when I needed to move houses and change desks.

1) The monitor arm was stuck and I wasn't able to remove it from the pole. No matter how hard I tried to remove the monitor arm it wouldn't budge. I got the laptop arm to come out from the bottom of the pole (after I un-mounted the pole) but that was it. I couldn't remove or adjust the notebook arm anymore which is a major drawback.

2) The covers/clips for the wire management broke, there is no easy way to take them out.

3) The clamping method doesn't support two inch thick desks (problem that I ran into when I switched desks). Fine that's no problem, just drill a hole into the desk and use the screw method. I drilled a hole into my new desk and found out that the screw that was provided was too short to hold the mount securely. This rendered the entire structure useless for my desk.

4) At that point I gave up and bought a dual monitor mount for my desk. It was only $40 compared to the approximate $150 I spent on this mount. I gave this mount to my brother for him to use. He can't adjust the height of the monitor (he's a bit shorter than me) which is a major drawback for someone using a computer for about 4-5 hours daily. At this point I wouldn't recommend, there are many cheaper mounts out there that probably work just as good.

Only pro at this point is that it still looks good and can hold up a monitor. Here's a picture of my brother's desk.

Original Review:
I'm a college student going for pharmacy school and this really helped get my laptop off my desk and free up desk space so that I could do some hand written work on my desk.

Mounted my 17" laptop and 24" monitor on it....plenty sturdy. Sure the laptop might "wobble" a little bit when messing with it, but since most people are using a seperate keyboard it shouldn't matter. Super happy, excellent product and would recommend to anyone!

I have several of these at my home/office and have installed them for some others as well. On my main desk I am actually using 3 plus a Pole Mount Notebook Holder Pole Included Up 18IN for my HP notebook. I have a 27" iMac and using the VF-AT I have additional monitors to either side and one above as well. (5 screens total including the notebook) you gain so much space by have these. Your entire desk surface is usable. I even angle the monitor above my imac down slightly to give it a better viewing angle. Installation is very simple and all the tools (one allen wrench) are included. For a co-worker we used this and a Pole Mount Notebook Holder Req Part# Vf-at Hold Up To 18IN so she has her monitor and her notebook on a single Pole. If your monitor is over 20" you will probably want to set it up as a portrait display. All you need to do is rotate the monitor and windows vista and 7 have very easy settings to rotate the image.

I am very pleased

It holds up my 22 inch acer monitor just fine. You can swing the monitor left and right, push it forward and back freely, but the tilt and vertical settings need to be set permanently. For the tilt setting they give you a hex key to tighten the screw that's in the joint, and then they give you a place holder on top of the pole to hold the hex key for easy access in the future. The vertical setting is easily manipulated but you will have to hold up the monitor so that it's arm slides readily on the pole. Once you figure out how high you want it then you tighten the ring and it will stay in place. The ring has black rubber bands around it for easy grip.

This was by far the least expensive option I could find. 3M offered a similar product for hundreds of dollars more so I was concerned that perhaps the build quality might not be as good for this product. I've been using it for a couple days and I feel this is an excellent product with great build quality. Everything felt solid and it was easy to assemble. Where they cut corners is in it's range of motion and ease of adjustment. If you need to be able to quickly adjust the height of your monitor, this product may not be for you. But for myself, and I imagine most people, moving it left, right, forward, back, pivot, and rotating 90 degrees is the only common adjustment your gonna make and this product does that very well.
My only area of concern is the mounting hardware. It's partly plastic so there is a possibility that it may wear out over time but I think that's unlikely. I have a 16" laptop and 24" monitor on it and not the least bit worried, but I'm not sure I'd use a 30" display and an 18" gaming laptop on it. Chances are if this product doesn't suit your needs then you have the kind of discretionary income to get the more expensive brands. But I'm betting for 90% of people out there, this will suit your needs and you will be satisfied with the end product. I wish I had done this ages ago. I now have a desk that I can use to fill out paper work when I need to, and being able to rotate the display 90 degrees makes looking at spreadsheets a breeze.
