Doesn't cool the CPU

Positives: It's quiet. It's reasonably comfortable in my lap, wearing shorts, with no padding... well, I am getting little circular imprints on my legs from the vents on the bottom, but not too badly. It is circulating quite a bit of air and, unlike my last, dead, cooling pad, doesn't have any annoying bright lights on it. The USB power cord tucks into grooves neatly with no bending or stress on the plug. All good.

Negatives: My very small notebook gets very hot on the front, left side where the CPU is. Very hot to the point where I can't leave my hand resting on it comfortably. Not good for the computer. This cooling pad has its fan only in the back, center. Even though it's putting out a lot of air, it's not cooling my notebook where I need it cooled. Comfort and other features all move to the background because what I really need is my computer kept cool and it's not doing that.

Fits up to 15.6" laptops, though a little tight

If you like using your laptop in your bed, this is a must get. Laptops can really overheat if bed covers or clothing interfere with proper airflow. For example, my laptop pulls air in from the bottom and flows the hot air out the side. For people who have the habit of setting their computer on top of their bed (mattress, bed cover, whatever) this means the air intake is blocked and the computer is going to overheat. Putting your computer on your lap will also restrict some of the airflow, so again some type of cooling pad is recommended.

I can actually get my 15.6" laptop to fit on it (barely), so pretty much anything will fit on this unless you have a 17" laptop. Fan works, though I don't really think it's necessary as my laptop does not run that hot to start with. The fan is very quiet, so if you use it there's no concern with noise. Fan is conveniently powered with the attached USB cable, which can be tucked away under the cooling pad when not in use.

Only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is personal preference for gel padding on the bottom side for more comfort.

Virtually silent as it does its job...

This little cooling pad replaced an incredibly noisy one I bought last year. I finally unplugged the USB on the old one and just used it to keep my laptop up and off the table, or my lap, thinking that it would help a bit, and it did. When I got the chance to get this one through Amazon Vine, I hopeful for a quiet replacement and I was not disappointed. I had to put my ear down to the keyboard to even see if it was working and that is wonderful.

Things I like: One, even when not plugged in and "on" it keeps the surface under your laptop cool. Two, it is about as loud as a running laptop, and that is very quiet. Three, it is powered by your laptop, and the included USB cable is attached at the center back so you can plug it in at either side of your machine.

Notice: The fan is immobile and at the top center of the pad. It keeps mine plenty cool, but I'm not a gamer like my kids, so I rarely have a lot of issues with over-heating slowing down my performance. My kids have cooling pads with two mobile fans that they can slide around to match the hotspots on the undersides of their laptops.

Does the job

This does what it is supposed to do; keep your laptop cool. It is quiet and ergonomically pleasing in that it raises the laptop a bit. When typing everything feels fine.
There are 2 minor, minor things to point out.
1 - You will be using a USB port to power the fan. My laptop only has 2 ports. I put the cooler on an older 1.2 USB hub and it worked fine with a blue tooth adapter also plugged in to the hub.
2 - When you open the lap top cover, sometimes the laptop slips off of the cooler slightly. A stickier surface on the cooler would have improved this.

Remember, heat is a killer for all electronics. If your laptop is running hot, you should probably have one of these.

Couldn't be more simple and works great

I am a part-time writer which means I'm always on my computer somewhere. I don't want to lug a laptop around so I don't travel without my Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 4034CLB Netbook (Clear Black) which I love-- but which gets pretty hot after even after just a few minutes. I've always been concerned about whether I'm doing any damage to it by setting it on flat surfaces (or my lap!) and having it heat up. This Belkin CoolSpot is the best solution. It is powered through the USB port, so no need to worry about plugging in anything (or carrying around an extra cord). The fan is quiet and keeps my netbook much cooler. It's lightweight (which is why I also like the netbook) and very convenient.

So I've been using this for a couple months now and I do have to say that it's holding up really well. It's still whisper quiet and works really well. My constantly overheating laptop hasn't shut down since I used it, which surprised me seeing as how it only had the one fan. It doesn't really hold onto the laptop that well but it's still really good beyond that.

I just received the Belkin Coolspot Anywhere Laptop Cooling Pad. I am using it now and so far I can find no flaws of any sort.

It is quiet.

It is light weight.

It does what it is supposed to do.

It holds my laptop neatly in my lap or on my table top and totally prevents it from getting over heated.

It is perfection in a chiller!!!
