Functional but disappointing, don't buy.

On my desk it does a nice job of keeping the laptop steady. But every time I set my 17" laptop on it, close/open the laptop lid, plug in/remove cables from the side, the stand feels like it "gives" under the weight. The non-slip grip works well and doesn't let the laptop move around at all when plugging in cables, so for the most part it works. The two pieces of aluminum that compose the stand are solid, but the plastic O piece that holds the stand together just gives it a cheap feel.

I'm returning it.

Just get an MStand instead

The flat shelf surface causes the laptop to still occupy as much of your desk as if it were not on a stand at all. The corners of your laptop will be uncomfortably close to you if the stand is placed next to a Cinema Display and you have the screens aligned. The flimsy two-piece-plus-plastic-shim construction means this stand wobbles up and down with the slightest effort. The Rain Design mStand solves these problems with its angled shelf and incredibly solid single-piece plate aluminum construction. Only consider this stand if for some reason you absolutely require the ability to disassemble it for more compact storage.

Bested by the M Stand by Rain Design.

The Belkin stand I tried from a friend before buying M Stand by Rain Design instead. Belkin stand does NOT have an angle to the keyboard that allows one to type on it while in the stand. You MUST use an accessory keyboard when using the Belkin; M Stand can be used with access. keyboard, or one could use the keyboard on the laptop because it has a generous tilt/slant. See photos of each.

Additionally, the M Stand is rock solid, better built. No flex, no give, even when typing. I didn't even consider the Belkin once I used it. For a few bucks more, the M Stand by Rain Design is worth every penny. It's sublime--but the Belkin is a weak imposter.

There is a gentleman who reviewed Griffin stand, which is almost identical to Belkin (same production company?) versus the M Stand in a utube video (just search M Stand and it's one of the top videos). He goes through the many disadvantages of this style stand versus its chief competitor, the M Stand. Check it out.

Do Not Buy This Stand

This product looks great and matches the MacBook Pro, which is why I bought it, but it's been a colossal disappointment--it DOESN'T serve its function! My MacBook slides off the stand! The rubber grip is no grip at all--it's actually a little slick. It will work great for days and then suddenly out of the blue, my machine slides off and comes crashing down onto my desk. NOT COOL. I've ended up wrapping packing tape around the top of the stand to give it actual grip. That works--for awhile.

It seems like a pretty simple thing to design, but apparently it was not properly tested with MacBooks. May work with other computers, but otherwise stay away!

Perfect stand... even for a PC

I bought this stand for my 17" ASUS PC because of the sleek design and the small footprint. My laptop is considerably larger than the MacBook, so I was curious to see how the stand held up. I am thrilled with my purchase.

Another reviewer mentioned that the "non slip" surface became slippery. With all non-slip surfaces like this one, dust causes the non-slip to become slippery. Even if there is not visible dust, take a warm wet cloth (no soap needed) and wipe the entire surface down. After it dries, it's usually good to go!

THE GOOD:
Easy to assemble. The bottom and the top snap together with the rubber ring in the middle.
Small footprint. I cut the footprint of my laptop in 1/3 by putting it on the loft
Flat foot. The bottom is flat and does not obstruct. I was able to store my doxie under my laptop and still have room to slide my wireless keybaord under my laptop when not in use.
Sturdy
Non slip surface works well
The height is good for ergonomic placement of a laptop monitor. No more flexing your neck to look down at the laptop screen.

THE BAD
I honestly haven't found a negative about this product.

I would recommend this Loft for anyone looking for more room on their desk or improved ergnomics with long use of a laptop. (FYI: I am an occupational therapist who has extensive experience analyzing ergonomics of a workplace.)

Okay first let me say WOW. What a difference. When using at my desk I hook my tablet into a keyboard and 2nd monitor. this riser places the screen at the perfect level for me. It also provides a place for me to place files that I am working on.

For someone looking for an ergonomic solution to a small laptop that is used at a desk this is a great option.

not worth the price

There are many different perspectives one can take when reviewing an item. In this case mine is based on a stand I already have for my macbook - the rain design mstand. The mstand was purchased on amazon a few years back. It is a single piece of Aluminum that can hold up every macook book from the 11 inch air to the 17 inch macbook pro. The only issue I ever had with it is when using the air, I put something in front to act as a slight riser.I found some rubber sticky nubs worked perfectly.

Recently I added another area of our house where the it would be convent to have a second laptop stand in our house and got this one to use. Boy was I disappointed, While I had no problems with my wife's 11 inch air, the 15 inch macbook pro made it look like this stand was not as sturdy.

So then I realized that this is same price as the rain design. So for the same money.... there is NO WAY I would buy this. Just get the rain design and don't look back.
