Best Option on the Market

Finally got around to getting a Laptop Stand for DJing and decided to go with this. My friend has the higher end Crane Stand and I was curious what the difference would be. Basically this one is a little heavier (They are both heavy stands, but that makes em safe). Also the knobs and rubber where they connect seemed a little cheaper and not as easy to manage as the Pro. This doesn't stop it from being a great stand though and it has all the functionality of the Pro. I'd say the $60 price difference is worth it for the minimal downsides. I really like the white color as well. Wish it was Prime Eligible though!

PERFECT STAND

After buying a UDG Creator stand 3 months ago and it breaking (the knobs at the top that tighten the laptop shelve stripped out) I HAD to get another stand (full time nightclub DJ). I was very cautious about the crane because it LOOKS like it is the same type of locking mechanism, but thats where the similarities end. THE CRANE IS AWESOME. Extremely rugged, the locking mechanisms in it are 1000x better. This is the industry standard for a reason.

Elevates Almost Anything

Being a triumph of ergonomic industrial design as well as an artwork in its own right is all very well, ...but that's of absolutely NO use to me if it doesn't securely retain its settings under load.

"Load"?

Surely not a 14kg (31lb) Gator GM-4WR rack of four radio mic receivers?

Done.

It turns out to be the perfect height to create a vertical stack of two. Safely. Almost invisibly. With easy access to all sides. Crane's ingenious "T-piece tongue" simply slides beneath the lower rack so that the pair of front panels align as a neat vertical "wall."

The only limit to loading seems to be the strength of an operator's hand and wrist when it comes to levering the beautifully sculpted and brilliantly engineered cams that drive Crane's unique and mind-bogglingly rugged locking mechanism.

Extreme force may indeed temporarily bend the whole assembly, ...after which it simply springs back to its original shape.

Amazingly, it's even secure enough to provide the carpal tunnel alleviating wrist support required for long-term ergonomic benefits.

There's just one problem.

I bought the blasted thing to elevate my laptop to the medically advised height for working on my feet over a standard desk, ...but now I'm also using it for my radio mics (the way others will almost certainly now do, as well as for individually angling secure positions for controllers, consoles, bookshelf speakers and all sorts of other gear) ...and I'd really HATE to front my doctor after going back to my previous arrangement for typing.

Damn. It looks like I'll have to order another one.

So, Dr Crane, these things should carry a health warning.

Maybe something like: "Experts advise that prolonged use of the infinitely variable angle-adjustable versions of the Crane Stand may prove to be highly addictive."

Very impressed with this stand. The top part of the stand was a little loose when I received it, but was easily corrected by tightening the tension knob on the side. It makes my karaoke set up look a lot more professional and fits comfortably underneath other equipment. I would definitely purchase another.

The stand has a great build! But it fails quite a bit on ...

The stand has a great build! But it fails quite a bit on the way it was designed. It makes for a great portable stand but has a somewhat fatal flaw. Just because of the way it was designed, it tends to fall over if you are trying to angle it in an angle that isn't 80 to 90 degrees. The weight of your hands resting on your laptop keyboard is usually enough to make it fall over. You have to play with the angles a bit to get it just right, but the fact that you have to do this limits how your stand can be placed.The Crane Stand Elite has fixed this issue as it has with notched teeth. I don't have an extremely heavy laptop. It's a standard 15 inch HP. So use this in determining if this stand is ideal for you.

Still going strong after a couple years.

I bought this stand for everyday use a couple years ago. I have found the build quality to be superb, and it has helped me to find an ergonomic way of using my laptop as a desktop workstation. It's also still in excellent shape!

Great value for any DJ not looking to drop $150 for the pro

I am a professional DJ and get tons of use from this stand. It functions exactly like the pro model. The only difference is the materials and the weight. Compared to the pro this is a little heavier...or as I like to call it, "sturdier." Came with a nylon bag but that has since ripped in the several months I've been using it.
In this industry equipment isn't cheap, so you need to try and save where you can. This stand definitely helps you to get the function of the crane pro without picking up a couple extra gigs just to afford it!
If you don't mind the extra weight this is a great addition to your gear collection!
