Do NOT buy!

Cart was exactly what I was looking for - something small and modern looking to set my ipad on. Assembly was easy enough. It was a bit wobbly when I finished assembly, but I figured for the light weight ipad, it would be okay. It was to sit next to my desk and provide a place for the ipad (which sits in a Griffin A-frame. I had it on the 3'rd set of holes. Work complete, I went about picking up the packing material from the box. Not more than 5 minutes passes and I hear a crash and the shelf has come unlatched from its setting and slammed down to the lowest position, knocking the ipad onto the floor. So my $90 bargain stand has cost me a ipad. Calico Designs, if you want to respond, respond by replacing my ipad. And then fix that unique locking mechanism - it doesn't seat in the holes far enough and there is too much play. Poor design.

The Amazon listing said this was by Studio Designs but the box said Calico Design. Either way, poor Design. And the list price of $149.95 is silly, the quality of this thing is something you would expect at Walmart with a $29.95 price.

DO NOT BUY.

Some Assembly Issues

I had no problems assembling the table but either I got a lemon of a package or there are some quality control issues with regards to the pieces. The instructions to assemble this cart were fair enough. You should probably have your own adjustable wrench to put the casters onto the legs. The company included a small wrench in the package, but mine broke after a few turns.

As far as parts go, the casters and the legs were my trouble point. One of the legs was not drilled properly and ruined two of casters. I tried to remove and salvage the casters but the screws snapped off during my removal attempts. Seriously, not cool. I contacted Studio Designs and after working through some automated menus, I got in touch with a live person and requested replacement parts. I asked for a new left leg and two casters, but a week later, I received two legs and one caster. I had to wait another week to get one more caster.

The table's fine now. It's fairly level and mobile and feels more solid than the folding tables I worked with prior. The mouse tray underneath is a bit clever. It can slide either to the left or right, though it isn't as solid as I would like it to be so I don't trust the shallow cup section to hold my drink, expecially with rambunctious cats in the house.

What can I say?

It is an inherently shaky proposition you ask of any piece of furniture if you require it to be lightweight, not unwieldy, moveable, yet sturdy. Given that, this unit is designed and constructed surprisingly well, and any shakiness is more of an integral moving as opposed to inherent shoddiness, like what could only be expected from such a cantilevered construction. The welds are solid, the hardware very good, and the overall impression is solid craftsmanship. The one exception is that it seems the shelf that pulls out could have been engineered a bit differently (to closer specifications anyway) so there would be less play in it when extended.
The openness of the bottom area works well for my purposes. The unit is quite solid and lightweight in terms of moving it around, but the casters are a little on the chintzy side. I would have preferred to pay $10 more to have real rubber wheels with ball bearings, but this may well be the best unit, overall, that is available to the mass market. I was pleased enough to give it 5 stars, based on my expectations.

wow this thing is horrible

I was looking to upgrade the cheap stand I bought for $30. This is not better at all. They put cup holders on this thing but it's so rinky-dink and unsturdy you would never trust this thing to hold a cup of liquids next to a laptop. The surface where the laptop sits is tilted back and the whole thing leans to the right. Another reason why I would never use the cup holder... Completely ridiculous and cheap for the $80 + price tag.

Flimsy

This cart is made out of very cheap materials. I returned it right away ! The screws broke upon trying to screw them on, the assembly is time consuming all to end up with a product that will not hold due to cheap materials. Don't bother....

Great For What I Need

I obviously use this for my laptop. A 17" HP (plus it's Logitech Speaker Fan Desk) and my Wacom Intuos Medium. Perfect for that. Almost perfect. The desk as a whole is incredible. So pretty and amazingly I don't have to worry that the laptop slips. But I do worry about the Intuos slipping, as it has before. The sliding part of the desk has 2 rubber stoppers that only let the sliding part of the desk slide half of the way. I had to take those out and insert useless CD's between the sliding part of the desk and the glass top. Also, the screws to secure the sliding part of the desk didn't fit completely so it's not that stable.

Hard to explain. Almost everything works as it should. But it works enough for what I need. Great setup. This thing is way better than the walmart laptop cart that lasted me 2 years (with ductape) and the CVS laptop cart that lasted me 3 months.
