Perfect for HP 17.3" Laptop

This laptop case is excellent in every aspect. My 17.3" HP Laptop fits in the laptop compartment perfectly; the battery on my HP laptop also functions as a foot which extends ¾" out of the bottom of the laptop to slope the keyboard for typing; overall thickness of my HP laptop is 1-3/8" which increases to 2-1/8" at the battery/foot. I store my HP laptop with the battery (3/4" increased thickness) toward the laptop compartment's zipper plus use the "Tablet Pocket" to store my mouse pad.

The case's double zippered front compartment (shown in the product picture holding pens, a chord, red case, etc.) is perfect for my HP's power cord & power pack, the case's shoulder strap, my 640 GB external HD (3.25" wide x 4.75" high x 0.5" thick) plus a long USB cable, wireless mouse with extra batteries, and some room for additional small items. There is also a full width zippered pocket in this compartment which easily holds letter size items; I have a total of ½" thickness of letter size items in this pocket. The laptop compartment is higher than the front compartment; therefore, the ¾" increased thickness needed for my HP's battery/foot does not interfere with any of the items stored in the front compartment.

The case's back pocket (shown in the product picture holding a cell phone) is perfect for two (2) DVD jewel cases; I carry copy protected reference CD's that I need for my work in this pocket.

The shoulder strap is easy to adjust and attach plus is well padded. I also like the aesthetics of the "Quilted" half of the case's front (which is accurately shown in the product pictures).Read more ›

Excellent case

I carry around a Toshiba 17.3" laptop in this case. It fits like a dream. There's plenty of room for files, a mouse, a charger, a tablet, other cables, SD cards, and other periferals. I really like the tablet sleeve. It has a luggage strap which has been handy. The three pockets in the second compartment are lightly padded to protect your valuables. My one complaint is the shoulder strap. The plastic clips have given out on me causing the case to crash to the floor. I no longer use the strap for that reason. Luckily, my laptop survived.

Fits my Lenovo Flex 2 15D perfectly.

First and foremost, unlike the model listed for 15.6" laptops, this one actually fits my Lenovo Flex 2 15D 15.6" laptop. Not sure how they rate these things because older laptops had a LOT more case beyond the screen edges... Who knows? But I digress... This discrepency is why I knocked it down to a 4 star rating. Sadly though, Caselogic is FAR from the only laptop case MFG that is guilty of this...

The outer cover is your typical black ballistics nylon outer casing with a padded liner, padding while a bit on the thinnish side, is more than ample to protect the laptop from mild thumps and bumps as you go through your day. None of the soft laptop bags I have ever come across are sufficient for protecting against say a hard drop on concrete, but for normal use, this thing is very protective...
There are zippers and velcro galonre. The strap clips are plastic, not metal. Good for weight reduction, and not prone to rusting over time. I could claim that plastics fail more often than the pot metal hardware used in some bags, but in all honesty, I have seen metal clips and buckles fail at a much higher rate than the plastic ones. Either way, plastic hardware is typical in this class bag...

The storage compartments all appear to be lined with a soft sort of micro fiber ish fleece type material which makes it super easy on things like phone and tablet screens, and all nature of portable device cases. The dedicated pocket for the phone has ample room for my Samsung Galaxy S4, and the front compartment works great for housing the charger, mouse etc... A separate zippered compartment holds plenty of documents. The front and back are padded with a good heavy duty foam insulator to keep bumps and bashes away.Read more ›
