Case Logic has backpacks down pat. This particular one fits my 17" HP Pavilion Laptop securely and protects it well. My Galaxy Tab fits in another well protected pocket and there are still plenty of places for other things. All designed in a lightweight yet extremely well stitched pack that fits like a champ with padded straps and a well padded base for lowering and placing on the floor or ground. It looks sharp and I've already had compliments on it and questions about it and the price (way way way way better than the Tumi!!!!)

This is my first Case Logic but I am very impressed. Especially when I spent a lot of bucks on my last one (a Tumi which cost me enough that I'm embarrassed to tell you) and it lasted less than a year (one strap came loose and one flap literally unraveled at the seam)!!!!
That's when I remembered what Grandma used to say, "Why buy a mink duster...when feathers will do fine!"

I use this thing everyday but it's too soon to tell you if it's gonna go for the long haul or not...but I'll come back and lower the rating if it shows any signs of wear or unraveling. Meanwhile I highly recommend it for it's spaciousness and it's wear ability.

So it's over and out Alpha Bravo (little joke)

I own several laptop backpacks so I'm able to compare this model to others. The one I'm currently using is as follows: SwissGear ScanSmart Laptop Computer Backpack SA1908 (Black) Fits Most 17 Inch Laptops. I like it a lot. It has enough room for what I need but the one complaint I have is I have to "maneuver" my MacBook Pro (17") into it because the section where the computer goes only opens on one side. It was/is also very costly compared to Case Logic's Prevailer Backpack.

I'm very impressed with this backpack. Even though the section where the laptop goes doesn't open fully (similar to the SwissGear) it seems easier to put my MacBook in. There is one less section but there's still plenty of room for what I need.

Granted, it will take time to use it over time but the stitching appears to be durable and seems to be able to take some rough and tumble action. The straps are padded nicely so you don't hurt your shoulders while using it.

If you need a nice backpack that won't break the bank, this Case Logic model is a good pick.

I'm slightly addicted to these Case Logic backpacks. I've owned several. Here's what I like about them:
- Durable. They last forever as far as I can tell and stay looking sharp
- Looks. Did I mention looking sharp? It's a backpack that has more class and style than most. It can pass in a business context since laptop bags are so common now. But with the convenience of a backpack
- Comfortable. I've filled these things pretty full, even traveled with them. The don't kill your shoulders, the straps are soft and comfortable.
- Size. Not too big, not too small, juuuuust right.

What else? There's a protected laptop compartment, a tablet pocket, big main compartment, and a cash-stash pocket on back panel. There's even a padded base so things don't go crack when you set it down.

Case Logic obviously talks to the people who really use their backpacks, the design shows it. Functional and stylish, and the price is very right. I love it.

I have an HP i7 17.3" laptop and it fits perfectly in this case. It is not too large and not too small. It seems like a compact fit but even when I add the sleeve which is padded it still fits without a problem. I believe in maximum protection especially in the event it gets dropped. With that concern I especially like that the laptop portion of this case is padded, but I would hardly call it shock proof and that is why I gave it 4 stars. It has about an eighth of an inch of denser foam on the back and sides. When I feel that level of padding being the same on the bottom I get concerned. Not that it wouldn't protect it during daily use, but I would still be concerned if the laptop fell and hit the ground. It would help but...

I normally house my laptop in a nice Targus leather case it has ample room and for professional business purposes, such as my friend who also has the same computer and case and he is a real estate agent, it is ideally suited for that. This is a backpack, and as such it is trendy for the people who are tech oriented and feel comfortable wearing it as a backpack.

The zipper opens on purpose only part of the way. Let's say on a clock face it opens from 11 o’clock, to 3 o’clock. That is good so it doesn't accidentally slip out. You open it to access it and have to go in and retrieve is so to speak. I like the added protection. It is well padded between the laptop compartment and your back. You can adjust the straps to suit your fit and after having done so I was able to easily slip in and out of it while realizing it wasn't going to accidentally fall off. Just as importantly they really aced it with the design of the straps. You won’t have to go pulling the straps back up over your shoulders once you get it on.
