The pad is light and the angle is adjustable so that it is comfortable to read or type when putting my laptop on it. Also, the additional USB outputs and cable strap frame make it more functional. The item arrived on time and it works as advertised. The unit is well made and my IBM T-60 fits neatly on the deck. When I started it up I thought something was wrong because I couldn't hear the fan. It's that quiet. Now the noisy fan in my laptop hardly runs at all and I can use the computer on my lap without feeling the heat. The unit works best with the deck elevated to the first notch so the suction side of the fan has good clearance. The extra USB ports are handy and the subtle blue light is no distraction at all. The included connecting cable is too long and gets in the way when moving the computer. Right angle connectors would solve the problem.

Keeps my laptop cool as a cucumber

This is a great cooling pad. Definitely haven't seen anything like this before, since it has a moving fan, which cools my laptop much more effectively than other products. The convenient usb ports are a plus, as it adds more to the 2 ports on my laptop. I also love the way it looks, pretty sleek! I will definitely recommend this to a friend.

I got this cooler because I had a little 10" netbook laptop I was pushing to the nth degree. It was big for the netbook but the smallest cooler I could find that had a moveable fan. The fan only moves from side to side but that let me position it directly under the hottest spot on the netbook so it was running warm instead of hot. Even though this cooler did it's job, I pushed the netbook so hard it just didn't turn back on one day.

Now I am using the Coldplayer with a much more powerful 11.6" Lenovo Thinkpad. This combo is a much better fit together and the laptop is as cool as can be.

I really could care less for the blue light which is on while the cooler is running. Everyone else thinks it is cool though.

The only way I can see to improve this Coldplayer would be for the fan to also be moveable from front to back. Then my little Thinkpad could rest against the latches for holding it from sliding off. However, this is not a big deal for me because I never raise the cooler. My working preference is to use it flat.

3 Dell XPS just fine with a little side overhang

Fits my 13.3 Dell XPS just fine with a little side overhang. I always monitor my cpu and gpu temps, and can verify that the Coldplayer is cooling things down as I use the first level incline. (Note for reviewers: It is more helpful to others if you can add descriptive specifics to your posts that can better help others. Like what size machine you use because not everyone has your model computer, etc)

Haven't used the USB ports nor the cord hanger. I may use a usb mouse periodically and I'm sure it will work fine. The cord hanger I will never use. It's in a bad place, but I would never use it even if it was in a perfect position.

The blue light by the fan is useful to easily see if the unit is turned on. The Coldplayer should be raised to at least the first level so there is room for the warm exhaust to ventilate. Also, I don't position the fan directly under my hotspot on the left side of the computer, rather I find it does a better overall job by putting it a little to the left. This gives my machine good airflow under the whole machine while pulling out more warm air from the warmer side.

My Initial Impression

I give this cooling pad 4 stars on initial impression.

I like the adjustable fan and the tabs that don't stick up above my laptop (the last one had tabs that poked over the computer and into my wrists). I also like that there is a power button for the fan, instead of having to plug/unplug it. Also very nice touch is the dodad on the back that allows you to sort the cords out.

I can't lock the incline. Once I lift the cooling pad, the incline position is lost. So, this product would probably only be appropriate for table top use - not for bed. As I am disabled and spend most of my time in bed or otherwise incapacitated, I have to lift and move my computer quite a lot. So, this might be something you want to consider.

On the negative side: I didn't like that the manufacturer contacted me prior to the product arriving, bribing me to write a good review. That seems kind of slimy to me. If I'm going to review a product, I will do it honestly, without the promise of goodies.

I just bought a new laptop that has the fan venting out the back and I always feel like I'm blocking it when I set it down on a pillow or blanket (Not that I spend that much time on my computer in my bed...riiiight.) I looked and looked for something that seemed stable without being too expensive and this fit the bill!

I don't actually use the fan, but I did try it out and love that it has an off and on button as well as a light that comes on when the fan starts up. I do HATE having a usb cable from my computer down to the cooling stand though. There are 4 usb inputs on the side of the stand but I haven't tried any of them yet.

I love the quality of this! It's a lot sturdier than I anticipated and the number of angle adjustments are perfect. I love it!
