A horrible product, flawed by design and despite the overall solid feel, it fails at some crucial details. Awkward and bulky are just the start... It rattles and makes a number of weird noises, this alone is a deal breaker for a cooling solution. It gets better though... the adjustable stand gets stuck and is hard to maneuver, let alone that most of its pre-set positions are so practically unusable that you cannot help but laugh at it! To top it off, the connectors around the back (the power one in particular) are cheap and WILL wear off/break within only a few weeks (two of these products, bought from separate vendors failed for the same reason without any extra strain or specific use!).

For all these reasons, this product should be taken off the shelves and probably re-designed a bit...

I had this product for a month now and it definitely improved my laptop's overheating issue. Before I had this product, my laptop would shut down after less than 30 minutes of light usage like web browsing, checking through email, and doing essays. As a matter of fact, this makes gaming on my laptop even worse to use, or any sort of task that requires more than what I said previously. After months of dealing and fixing my laptop's overheating problem, I came across this product and decided to get it. Although, I have considered getting this laptop cooler for quite some time, but due to the number of negative reviews of this product, it was very difficult for me to buy it. Of course, I had no choice at all, so I ended up buying it. One thing I noticed about this laptop cooler is how well it fits to my laptop (By the way, my laptop is a 15 in). It feels like this product is meant for laptops in the 15 in or smaller category, but don't worry, this will do just fine with a 17 in. One of the coolest features of this product is the 4 USB 2.0 hub, this addition truly makes this product an excellent choice when you're looking for a laptop cooler to buy and all you need is just one USB to power everything. And what's more interesting is the adjustability, this laptop can adjust to six different angles and the stand is very solid, so it won't feel flimsy when you're adjusting the height. But the real question is, did it improve my laptop's overheating issue? The answer is absolutely! I never felt so relaxed using my laptop since the day I first had my laptop. Luckily this laptop cooler has a wheel that controls the fan and even on its highest speed, it's surprisingly not loud. So if you're going through the same issue as I had, get this product, it will definitely make a huge difference and makes the experience of using a laptop a lot better.

The fan makes a ticking noise. If you take the top cover off you can give the fan a smack and it usually stops making the noise. Other than that the fan is pretty quite. I kinda wish it moved a little more air.

I use a 17" laptop. If you use a big one too, get the original ErgoStand. This is a big improvement over the ErgoStand II but it still is not as sturdy as the original.

Not really made for the slimmer laptops of the future, the lower holding tabs are sort of massive. Ofcourse if you are using a laptop in this sort of stand, you are most likely not going to use the keyboard at the same time, so they shouldn't annoy you.

Overall I'm kind of meh on the product, I like the basic idea, but the execution is a bit bad. I've had similar, one massive fan, coolers that have been noticeably quieter then this on the lowest setting. So it's a "performance" cooler, if you want to believe a louder fan will make a difference. In my experience any bit of airflow is often enough to help, and forcing a loud ass fan underneath your laptop isn't really going to help much more. Especially without any actual exhausting to keep the air flowing.

So in short, the stand is cool you get a lot of airflow by putting your laptop in a standing position. The fan is there, if you need it? Right now I'm just using the stand, and not seeing much more benefit from using the fan, even at full speed. (On a MSI GS60 and Eurocom M4)

I loved this stand for the first 3 hours of our relationship. It boasts a huge, quiet fan and felt solid, despite its light weight and chintzy plastic construction. It also has very handy USB ports and cable management clips and guides built into the frame.
Hour 3 rolled around and one of the two plastic feet that hold up the laptop broke clean off. Bam, my laptop slides forward and I am greeted with tiny bits of cheap black plastic on the desk. I had my laptop on the most vertical setting, similar to the default item picture currently on amazon. I have a Thinkpad W451, the sticker says it weighs 6lbs.

Even if I had a lighter laptop, I wouldn't trust this thing to hold up.

I was terribly disappointed with this. The fan stopped working within a week. I certainly can't recomment it.
Poor Quality

I bought this for my daughter's laptop which had taken to randomly shutting down. I realized after a little investigation that it was overheating. After reading all the reviews on Amazon, I chose this model. We've had it for over a month now. It works great and keeps her laptop cool. The laptop has not shut down once since she began using it. It does not seem flimsy. It also runs VERY quiet. Nice. I would recommend this product so far. I also investigated office supply stores and Amazon had by far the best price.
