The biggest problem that I was having with other laptop coolers is that the fan is in the middle and the vents on my laptop are in the corners and along the front edge. My laptop runs VERY hot, so this was getting to be a real problem. I wish I had seen this cooler design sooner and saved myself a little money and headache trying to find a cooler with fans that would rest directly beneath my vents.

In my opinion, this is a little expensive for a laptop cooler, but SO worth it! I would spend that much money all over again in a heartbeat and tell everyone else to do the same! This is not made from cheap, brittle plastic that can't take much wear and use without starting to look like junk. This is made of thick, sturdy aluminum that easily holds my huge (and heavy) laptop and doesn't sag or bend. It has a soft rubber bumper along the front and on both back corners of the cooler. The metal is well sanded/filed, so there are no sharp edges or unfinished bits to snag or scratch. The fans are whisper quiet and installation was stupid easy! I was expecting at least a little bit of a learning curve, but they just clip right on! You just line it up with the vent on your laptop and push the little button in and the fan just clicks right on. No fuss, no annoying small parts to bend or break.

It's also designed to store in the same space as your laptop, so fitting this cooler into your bag is easy. You simply rest your laptop against the underside of the cooler and secure it with the elastic strap (included) and slide it into your bag. It doesn't take up any extra space, which was a real bonus for me since I don't want to have to carry a huge satchel around when I'm traveling. I also like the extra protection around my machine that could help it survive a drop.Read more ›

they REALLY need a little 'kickstand' or something for rhe back or front however you use it. the anglel is not good at all. i put a few little blocks of wood to level it.
now, i LOVE the way these fans click!! this makes the product fantastic, but they have to work on the angle of it. but its quiet, and you can place them anywhere on the gridlike peice, that genious idea.
i gave it 4 stars because of its angle iotherside, love it

Keep Your Cool

I own two of these cooling pads, and another one by the same manufacturer with three fans for my 17" laptop. In the past I had a Taurus cooling pad, and it was plastic junk. USB connection went out, and that was that. I've had two pads for almost three years, and both continue to work as new. Buy it, you'll like it!

I Would Buy This Again

I spent A LOT of time looking for laptop coolers. They range from one tiny fan to one massive fan to multiple massive fans. THERE ARE TOO MANY OPTIONS.

I wouldn't recommend this to use in your lap. It is designed to sit on a desk. It you want a lap desk, look elsewhere or buy a tablet!

I chose this one for several reasons.

PROS:
-Construction is good. My laptop has rubber feet to stand it up a little so the aluminum doesn't get too hot. The fans feel sturdy.

-Moveable fans. My laptop heats up towards the back left corner were my exhaust fan sits. It is nice to put two fans over there and one over the battery. I love the cooler for the moveable fans, this is worth a HUGE value.

-Raised frame. The raised frame really allows for more air to go through. Nice feature that other coolers miss!

-Power Efficient. I was concerned with those MASSIVE fans would have a high power consumption via USB. The three fans has not affected my battery life at all.

-The USB plugin has a USB opening on the back of it, so you don't lose a USB slot.

- Lots of rubber! This does not slide on my desk. I trust it to hold my $2000 laptop on a regular basis.

- Cord management. I am pretty sure I have OCD. Cords drive me crazy! This cooler makes wrapping my cords in the back easy.

- Quiet. I can hardly hear them running and have to put my hand under them to make sure it is working.

CONS:
- Not as much cooling power as I imagined. Don't get me wrong. This thing does bring down my GPU/CPU temperatures but don't expect miracles. The raised frame probably increases cooling more than the fans by themselves.

So quiet you'll think it's broken

These 3 fans run so quiet you'll think it's broken!!! I have mine running at full speed and can barely hear it. Man what a HUGE difference it's making in the temp of my laptop! I love the fact that you can control the fan speed too. I just received it and hooked it up, but I am totally impressed. Appears to be well made. Nothing cheap or cheesy about the construction. It will easily plug in on either side of your laptop, so it doesn't matter where your USB ports are. I also love the fact that it doesn't really take up a port because it has a USB jack built in. My 17" laptop fits just fine - it doesn't hang off the edge like other fans claiming to be made for a 17". It's slightly awkward in my lap, but I am getting used to it. It's extremely compact and lightweight and doesn't take any room in my computer bag. I had a Targus fan which quit working shortly after I bought it. BIG WASTE OF MONEY! It was cheap and cheesy! The fan on it died just a few weeks after getting it. It costs a little bit more than other fans out there, but it's worth it.
