Great for my needs!

I bought this a month ago for my Dell Vostro 17.3" laptop [16½ x 11¼ x 1.1]. This is more a sleeve and not a case/bag (as the description says) so there are no handles or hooks attached. It fits perfectly and the flap closes over a velcro strip. I like that it doesn't have any metal parts like a zipper to prevent scratching. It does not claim to be waterproof (especially without a zipper). The neoprene is soft and not rubbery/plasticky feeling. If you read reviews for other sleeves they mention a plasticky or industrial smell (due to the manufacturing process?) which I did not find for this sleeve. I use this only to store my laptop when not in use to keep out the dust. You can carry this under your arm (again, no handles) or better yet, put it in a messenger bag or suitcase if you want to transport it elsewhere. I don't plan on using this outdoor so this sleeve serves my needs.

I got the product today and it looks very well made. Five stars for what I saw. Of course, I cannot write about durability. That will come later, as times goes by. This is a simple product and all that I could write about it was already written by another customer. CTCowboy "Sam" wrote a very nice review which actually helped me to decide to buy this item. You can easily find his review here. The only addition I will make is the dimensions of my laptop, so if you have one with a similar size you will be assured that it will fit in the sleeve. 17.3" screen [16.38" x 10.83" x 1.24"-1.42"(w/battery)].

This sleeve fits my Dell 17.3 inch computer perfectly. Its a wonderful product. I purchased this to keep the dust out of my computer when its not being used, and love the fact that the neoprene helps to protect it from spills - don't think it will keep out really heavy spills, but should help to keep it safe from small ones. : )

Nice design, but Way Too Big

The design of this sleeve is perfect (except for the size). The Velcro enclosure is well made and holds tight. The outside of the case is a semi-rough fabric and the density of the material is kind of light. Meaning that this sleeve does not have any ability to protect from any drop damage. This "sleeve" is described to fit a 17.3" laptop and it is way too big for that size. I have a brand new Pavilion dv7 laptop with a 17.3" display and there was at least 4 inches of space on the sides of this sleeve. The sleeve left enough room inside that I was afraid the lid would be able to open if jostled around enough, leaving a greater chance for damage to the screen and hinges.

Dual Purpose!

For the true purpose of the the sleeve its just right. I've not had it long enough to attest to its durability, but it feels like it should last a good long time. I'm mostly pleased with the secondary purpose I came across. I use my laptop in my easy chair, bed, couch, or any other comfy spot. I've always had issues with a using a mouse (I don't like touch pads) I've tried different materials for improvised mouse pads none picked up my laser mouse well. I was set to order a new pad to mount to a stiff surface (and also be one more thing I need to carry around) Then I put my mouse on this bag! Its perfect! Stick a piece of stiff cardboard in the sleeve and viola! mouse pad and laptop protection all in one!

Too wide, no padding

I purchased this for my 17" Dell Precision M6800. I was looking for something to protect my laptop and having trouble finding a sleeve/case large enough for it. I purchased this sleeve hoping it would offer scratch protection and some padding while carrying laptop in my backpack.

This case is large enough to fit a 17" laptop, but having said this, it is actually too wide by approx. 3 inches. This can makes it difficult to fit into my backpack, as the extra width interferes with the zipper. This sleeve/case offers practically no impact protection.

The bottom line: "you get what you pay for". My search for a sleeve will continue.

Definitely Works!!

I was desperate for a new sleeve since the one I purchased when I got my laptop was too snug, but the only one I could find. Then one day the zipper snapped because it was sooo snug. My laptop is a 17.3" laptop and the sleeve was for a 17". I got this sleeve hoping that it would fit my laptop perfectly and still leave some breathing room so I didn't have the same issue all over again. I have to say that I am beyond happy with my purchase. My laptop fits in the sleeve perfectly and there is still so much room left over that you could literally fit a tablet and more in there as well. I hope this helps you all! :)
