Hoped for better...

I use a stand on a coffee table next to the couch - it's where I keep my 15" MBP when I'm home, so I can turn and type or have it handy to pick up and put on my lap for extended work. Right now I have a nice Logitech curved clear plastic unit, and it's worked well but I wanted something with a little more freedom for what I keep underneath it. The base on that one left me with a "tunnel" under the laptop to store things like a camcorder, firewire drive, etc.. I had hoped this would let me get a little more wiggle room under the laptop while keeping it handy as it's been.

Shipping is well done - a very sturdy box for the product, with a stand itself folded up inside a little carrying bag with a string pull close on it. So the item itself is pretty assuredly going to arrived unharmed. It also ships with a little velcro strap, which isn't mentioned on the packaging or directions anywhere, so I assume it's for cable management if needed.

Unit's main hinge is pretty steady - it locks into place at the various angles, and holds well. The button to unlock it is easy to depress, and the movement doesn't feel loose at all.

And that's where it starts to go downhill. The smaller legs really aren't steady at all. They pivot open fine, and extend for my laptop, but the "feet" that rotate up are not at all solid, and the arms themselves end up twisting around their axis with little pressure. But it's those little peg feet that come up to hold the laptop from sliding off the edges that really have the most movement in them, making the laptop feel not at all secure.Read more ›

Excellent stand for a low price

This stand is great! I have seen other Laptop stands and they all seemed bulky and occupying too much space. This stand is minimal and does the job very well.

The item I received seemed to work for both Tablets and Laptops. The instructions were there to extend the legs of the stand to support Laptops. I tried this stand on 3 different laptops, a 13 inch MacBook pro, 15 inch MackBook Pro and a very bulky HP laptop and they were all stable.

I wonder if the people who were complaining about the legs really extended the legs. Without extending there's no way this would support a laptop.

Very happy with the purchase.

Was good while it lasted.

I got this product as a gift. I must have used it maybe 6-10 times. It was great until one of the legs broke off the main hinge. It renders the product completely useless. Do not waste your money! Look for something more durable. I am not the only customer that has encountered this problem!

Loved the size and concept, but would not hold my laptop steady. Would be great for netbook, tablet, or smaller laptop, but for 15 inch or greater, don't take the chance.

I placed my 15.6 inch laptop that weighs around six pounds after a few seconds the stand collapsed then I tried my 11 inch MacBook air after a few seconds the same thing happened. Returning to Amazon ASAP.

flimsy, rickety, and not worth the money

I ordered this gadget because I wanted to raise my laptop to a comfortable viewing position so I could use it like a desktop. The stand is cheaply made and doesn't hold the laptop securely. It has two little feet at the bottom that the computer is supposed to rest on, but they are too small for a laptop. They might be adequate for a tablet. Also, the stand is difficult to open and adjust. I would not recommend it to anyone.

i give this product Juan star. It served it's purpose for under a week with my MacBook Pro. If you decide to make the purchase, be mindful of the fragile design of the legs that open outward to give the laptop a wider base to rest on(they broke on mine *picture included*). No complaints about the 2 day free shipping.

Used for my MacBook Air, broke after the first month of normal use.

I used this laptop stand at my desk with my MacBook Air. It allowed me to keep my laptop next to my external monitor, at a good height. It was reasonably stable, and I liked being able to adjust the height. The little arms that flip up did a fine job of preventing the laptop from sliding off the stand, even at extreme angles. The laptop was stable enough that I could easily plug or unplug USB cables without it tipping over.

Unfortunately, it only lasted for 30 days. This morning when I set my laptop on the stand, I wasn't gentle enough, and one of the arms broke off at the hinge. I am unable to find any contact information for the manufacturer to request a replacement. Luckily I had 1 day left to return it to Amazon.

I might recommend this stand for the right person, as it's a great price and worked well, you just have to be extra gentle with it. I am going to find a different solution for myself.
