Replace your "flat" battery!

Perfect fit, perfect replacement. I have 2 Dell StudioXPS laptops. The 1640 and the 1647. The 1640 originally came with a battery that did not elevate the back of the computer. I'm guessing it's an early model flaw, but there is not enough room under the laptop to keep the airflow moving in order to keep it cool. I never had a meltdown, but there were times when I would lose the screen because it was soooo hot. I used the 1640 almost exclusively so I just swapped out the battery since the 1647 already had a battery exactly like this one. It worked great. It lifts the rear of the laptop up by about 1/2 inch, letting in a ton more air.
But now I need to use the 1647 AND the 1640 just about every day, so I needed another battery like this one to give me the cooling I need. Like I said above, perfect fit. It arrived with a 70% charge so it didn't take long to have it fully charged up.
If you have one of the "flat" batteries rather than this elevated version, you really need this battery. Not only does it keep it cooler, but I think it puts the laptop at a much better angle for typing.

Good Battery but not that long a life span

For an expensive new battery, it's life is not really that long. It also randomly turns off when you don't expect it, which can be really bad.

took a long time to write this review. I'm giving it 3 stars because it does fit and work and it was significantly cheaper than buying an oem battery. however for being an extended life battery which makes it much larger. It does not last nearly as long as the factory battery. In my situation this is not a big deal since my laptop is usually plugged in. However with normal usage I.E. checking email browsing the web I may get an hour out of it. All that being said it is still a good deal
