This caused a fire in my laptop. It was clearly the wrong adapter, even though the product listing included my computer model. Now we need a new computer, which is much pricier than a new adapter .

Buyer be wary...

Sorry I'm just now getting around to posting this. I purchased this as a replacement for an Inspiron 1545 in May. It charged the battery.
The problem is, it never *stopped* charging the battery when it reached 100%. I got lucky, and smelled the hot plastic before it got hot enough to catch fire. 90 minutes after unplugging it, and pulling the battery out of the laptop so it would cool quicker, the battery was still warm to the touch. I wound up buying a used one locally, and took the loss on this one.
Please consider this a warning. The first time you use this product, don't leave it unattended, or go to bed. There could be consequences.
This is the first time I've ever had a problem with a Dell OEM product. I hope it's the last. It's for sure I won't be buying another one of these.

I inadvertently threw out my adapter charger for my Dell laptop and needed one quickly, and this seemed like it would fit the bill perfectly. The price was great, and it arrived when expected. The connection between the adapter and charger is a little odd and not as seamless as the adapter/charger that came with the computer, and the first couple of times I tried to connect them, it didn't seem that the connection between the two part pictured here was going to hold. I spent a little time figuring it out and I managed to to get it to work, and now my laptop is 100% charged. I actually contacted Amazon because I thought I would have to send the whole thing back, and I'm so glad that I don't have to do that.

It worked well for what I wanted it for

I got this to replace the charger for my Inspiron 1545 but as many people have said the part that actually plugs into your laptop is round. I ended up taking the part of the cord that goes into the power adapter and using it with the original charger. It works really great for me, I'm so glad that it fit together and now I even have backup parts.
