Total System Failure after two weeks

This computer was very disappointing. It had great reviews and the price was amazing for a touch screen. It shipped quickly and worked great...for two weeks. The computer would start, get to the sign in screen and then freeze and go black. I called Dell and spoke to a very nice technician. After I explained what was happening he said it was a "total system failure." He said I had two options because the warranty does not cover total system failures, 1. I could ship it to Dell and they would look at it for $90 + shipping (both ways), 2. I could take it to a local computer store and have it looked at. I said I had a third option--to send it back. And thank goodness for Amazon, I chose #3! Amazon was amazing (as always) and credited my account within two hours of me dropping the computer off at UPS. I really wanted the computer to work. So one star for the product, but five stars for Amazon.

Very fast quad core processor, with tons of features, comes with a built-in camera, hdmi out, 4 gigs ram, 500g Hdd, touch screen with Windows 8.1 and backup cloud. I bought this one for my daughter mainly for school and gaming... she loves it .

Disappointed

I love Dell computers, but this was a disappointment. It worked fine for one day, but as soon as WIndows automatically updated, it would never turn on again. I don't know if that is the fault of Dell or Windows, but I had to send it back.

My 7 yr old Dell that I thought worked bad works way better then this thing! Internet Explorer is always shutting down or the pages freeze. Its shut down a few times without any warning. It comes with no Back up disc , Youll have to buy some DVD disc and install yourself.I was shocked to see no disc no handbook no nothing in the box but the laptop. Its very slow .. Im not sure what else to say about this model.

Well made machine

For the price, this computer so far holds it's own against computers in the 500 dollar range. The touch screen is responsive and fast, super fast start up on the 4 gb ram, and plenty of storage space make this a great laptop. The outer shell does feel a little cheap, but I think Dell was trying to make it a little more lightweight than if they used a heavier,bulkier plastic. It still feels durable, and for a 16 inch screen, it is surprisingly light. I love the built in webcam, and it isn't too bad of quality for a non flash. There's a memory card reader as well as a high speed usb for storage transfers. The dvd burner works well, and so does other pre installed features. All in all, I'm super happy with this laptop. I forgot how well Dell does computers.

My Very First Laptop.

I'm basically a desktop computer person, but I went back to school in the fall of 2014 for another degree in Fiction Writing. I needed a laptop to use at school, so I got this one. I only buy Dell computers, but this is the first one that I didn't buy directly from Dell. That was a mistake. This one has Windows 8.1 which takes a lot of getting used to navigating. But that's Microsoft. Since buying my very first laptop, I now know the importance of WiFi. Fortunately my school has plenty of wifi to go around. I like having a pc that I can use in different parts of my home too, plus I'll admit the 8.1 came with a lot of useful apps. I just can't monitor the laptop's status as easily as with Windows 7. Mostly, I made the mistake of not noticing that this pc came without a software warranty which can be more important than the hardware warranty. This has been a serious issue between Dell and me. There's no one to call if something goes wrong, unless I want to pay over $100. Not used to that with Dell. I bought a case to carry it to school in, but it's heavier than I realized it would be. A tote bag on one shoulder for books,etc...& another for the laptop, not to mention my shoulder bag. Still, I like it, but I guess it's like having your first newborn; they don't come with instructions.
