One of the best

I was looking for similar kind of products with this configuration. I should say I have no complaints about the product and highly recommend anyone who wants to buy it. I got this at unbeatable price comparing with other sources. I don't want to go over the specs here, since everyone can check them out. I just want to give what I like:
1. Set-up was easy and fairly fast. I didn't time it, but I think it took between five and ten minutes between when I powered the computer on and when it was ready to work. However, some people may think they know how to do it, and comes up with complaints if they actually setup wrong.
2. The speed seems quite good. I have used the computer for writing documents, playing music, and watching videos (including full-length movies), and I haven't noticed any lagging, even when I have more than one program running. That said, I don't have any high-end games to try and don't intend to.
3. The backlit keyboard looks so nice, and very sturdy
4. The display is clear, and the sound is crystal
Dell has be doing computer right for many years, this is one of them

i like this laptop pretty much

i like this laptop pretty much. although it is not like i7 12 or 16 gb gaming book, but with 8gb and 1tb hdd, it is just good enough for office use and most of gaming. especially it comes with backlit keyboard, it is very cool. if you want to play games and want to save, this is a good choice.

It's very nice looking but a few days after getting it I got the Internet and went to open it and 3 inches from the bottom of the screen the Pixels went out. no one did it because I took it to a computer fixer guy and he said I should return it and that if someone did it it would be a little square not the hole bottom of the screen so I retuned it sorry guys it's a really nice computer but a no go

Unmitigated Disaster for a College Student

In August, 2014, we bought a Dell Inspiron 15-5000 (5547) for my daughter's first year of college. The computer has had severe problems from the beginning (hard drive failure, processor failure, touchpad failure). My daughter wasted hours dealing with them (great skill development for a student, but in this case, way beyond any reasonable level), and now the computer has completely died within a few days of the warranty running out.

It has been difficult to obtain support, and while the Dell support team has been helpful with some of our problems, they have been completely dismissive of others.

I would advise against buying any Dell products for college students. This device was marketed as perfect for our situation, and it has been far from perfect. I can't help but think that this might be the case for all Dell products.

This is a good laptop, but I am pretty sure it is refurbished (at the $527 dollar price). This was not made clear upon purchase. When it arrived the original seal from dell is broken and another sticker "windows premium" label placed over it, it also lacks the typical factory sealings that you peel off of keys and screen cover. If this is indeed a refurbished product it should be made pretty clear prior to purchase.

Don't buy dell

This laptop felt cheap from when it first arrived about a year ago, but it served it's purpose. Suddenly it shut off and it has no power now. This is a common problem for these laptops as a simple google search will show. I work off of my computer and don't have time for this. 2 stars since it is good for about a year
