Seriously, I love this laptop. Crystal clear display, plenty fast, I bought this to replace a Windows 8 laptop that did not have a touch screen. If you are running Windows 8 or 8.1, you must have the touch screen. It's very annoying to use without it. This laptop is a perfect replacement and I am already noticing how much easier it is to use. Love the backlit keyboard. Keys are quiet and easy to use. I definitely recommend it.

Bought this great little laptop from Dell directly. I love it! It is extremely reliable and Dell support is above and beyond! The touch screen is very responsive and the keyboard feels nice. It has a quick startup and very responsive feel. Windows 8.1 is very good. I got the cheap one since I wanted a long lasting battery. The battery seems to go and go! I some times forget to charge it. Its very modifiable for a elite book. All you need is a screwdriver and you can replace everything! On that point, the internals are very well organized and easily reached.

Very good laptop

I just got this laptop 2 days ago and did have freezing and hanging problems, but I found out it was a CPU thermometer I downloaded that caused it. After deleting, the laptop ran buttery smooth.

Performance: Nothing to complain about the performance at all. If you guys are curious, my model has the Core i7 (base clock at 2GHz, turbo at 3.1 GHz with one core running, and 2.8GHz with 2 cores running), 8GB DDR3 (1600MHz) ram, 1080P IPS display, and Intel HD 4400 graphics. Tasks run super fast and the fan is barely noticeable. I don't play super intense games on my laptops, but Minecraft ran completely fine. It doesn't get hot, but the bottom does get a little warm only when you're putting it under load. The boot up times, wake from sleep, hibernate, etc are very fast. it surprised me.

Quality: The build quality of this laptop is great, but not perfect. I had an HP ENVY before this and yes the quality is a whole lot better. My HP had a plastic lid and bottom and also had scratches on the frame around the keyboard, extra mold of plastic on the keys, dents, and overall felt like a used machine. This however was almost perfect. I expected the chamfered edges to have a few marks, but it's flawless. Screen is amazing. The 1080P resolution under the Gorillia Glass is stunnng. It is an IPS display as well. The aluminum lid is solid, keyboard has great feel along with a nice two backlit mode, but i noticed that the area between the space bar and trackpad is a little curved up. It's not easily noticable by any means and I could totally live with it, but just being honest that this is not completely perfect.

Just got it a few days ago. Everything is great. Its a treat to use. The Dragon assistant is better than Siri. I have a Macbook Pro also. For windows this is an excellent machine. Little heavy but the form factor and other features make you forget the weight. Touchscreen is better than the touch pad which I'm not really used to and I may need to configure more. However, I keep using the touchscreen or Dragon (spoken commands). Once I get to use it more I'll update the review. (11/24/2014). I think like the other users have said its a great value for your money.

Pretty Laptop with (Some) Problems

I'm a long time Amazon customer, but I think this is the first time I write a review.

I purchased the "i7 / 16 Giga ram" version about a week ago. There is this "i7/8G" version with $150 less. (These two used to be two separate items when I bought this model. Amazon now combined them into a single item with 8G/16G option for some reason.) Note that the 8G memory difference does not account for the 150 dollar price difference. My guess is that the "16G" version comes with a second graphics adapter (NVidia GeForce GT 750M) whereas the 8G version doesn't.

First of all, this is very good looking laptop. In the same price range, you cannot find a better looking Windows laptop (at least on Amazon). It feels very sturdy, and the aluminum frame/keyboard feels nice on your touch. The spec, i7/16G RAM/1T HD/GeForce, is also unbeatable in this price range.

Unfortunately, this laptop is rather unstable. It often hangs, and it sometimes shuts down/restarts ("Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart"). It even completely crashed on me once (as if the power was completely cut off).

At first, I did not know if it was Windows 8 (This is my first Windows 8 computer) or hardware issues. (Internet Explorer feels extremely sluggish on sites with heavy javascripts. etc. I presume these are really Windows issues.) But, after a week of use, I am starting to think there is something wrong with this model. (Or, at least, I got a lemon.)

I really like this computer, look and feel. My low rating should not discourage you from considering this model, if you don't mind a bit of hassle. (Also, if the problem is related to the nvidea graphics card, and if the 8G version does not have the second graphics card, then the 8G version might be more stable. I'm not sure.)

I bought this because I really needed a Windows 8.1 laptop. But, I'm now thinking of returning it.
