Dell XPS 13 XPS9343-6365SLV 13.3-inch Laptop

Erase borders, starting with the display.

The XPS 13 isn't just the smallest 13-inch laptop on the planet, it also has the world's first virtually borderless infinity display.

Here are just a few of the amazing Windows 10 features to look forward to:

  • Cortana: Your own personal, digital secretary.
  • Start Menu: Your expanded Windows 7 Start menu is here.
  • Continuum: Switching between 2-in-1 devices has never been easier.
  • Microsoft Edge: A new web browser loaded with cool features like writing or typing directly on a webpage.
  • Speed: Windows 10 starts up and resumes fast for your busy lifestyle.
  • Disclaimers:
  • ** Fast resume: Based on internal testing by Dell Labs in May, 2012. Actual performance will vary with configuration, usage and manufacturing variability.
  • *** EPEAT Gold registered in the U.S. EPEAT registration varies by country. See website for registration status by country.

The smallest 13-inch on the planet with the world’s first infinity display

Large screen, small laptop: The virtually borderless infinity display cleverly fits a 13-inch display into the size of an 11-inch laptop. Compared to the Apple MacBook Air 13, the XPS 13 is 23% smaller with the same size screen.

Impressive screen size: The thin bezel frees up the screen space in this innovative design. The three-sided, virtually borderless infinity display measures a miniscule 5.2mm border: the thinnest frame on a notebook. With a slim bezel of less than 2% of the total display, you have more screen to love.

Thin build: Not only is the XPS 13 small, it's also stunningly thin to make it an ideal mobile companion. At only 9-15mm thick and starting at only 2.6 pounds (1.18kg), it is easy to stick in your purse or bag while you are on the go.

Stunning view

Stunning UltraSharp QHD+ resolution (3200x1800): There are over 2.5 times as many pixels as FHD, 5 times as many as HD and 4.4 times as many as the MacBook Air 13 (or other products with HD+ displays).

Easy to share: See content clearly from almost any angle with an IGZO2 IPS panel, providing a wide viewing angle of up to 170°. Enjoy the vibrant screen together with your friends.

Brighten your day: The screen is brilliant enough to watch movies in sunlight without missing the details. At 400-nit, it’s up to 100% brighter than a typical panel (200-nit) for a great view even outside. With a high color gamut of 72% and a high contrast ratio of 1000:1, more colors are represented so you can see the brightest brights and the darkest darks.

Small size. Big performance

Start faster: Enjoy the speed, clarity and improved graphics with the new 5th Generation Intel Core processors.

Stay powered longer: With up to 15 hours of run time on the FHD display (and 11 hours on the QHD+), it’s leading the industry in battery life.*

Speedy start up: The XPS 13 boots and resumes** in seconds thanks to a standard solid state drive and Intel Rapid Start Technology.

Improved usability

Pinch, zoom and click with precision

The improved touch pad delivers the exact action you intend, every time, so no more jumping or floating cursors. It delivers fluid panning, pinching and zooming, for an experience that’s touch screen-smooth and quick, and similar to the gestures you are used to on screen. And with Accidental Activation Prevention, there are no more mis-clicks when your palm hits the touch pad.

See what you’ve been missing

This standard backlit keyboard lights up your keys and your ideas. No need to squint in low-light or no-light rooms while typing. Once you experience this added feature, you won’t be able to live without it.

Premium materials for a stunning design and durability

Tough stuff: Machined aluminum construction means the XPS 13 is precision-cut from a single block of aluminum for a sturdy, durable chassis.

Cool under pressure: XPS products use carbon fiber that is similar to what is used for some of the world’s high performance cars and racing bikes for a stellar combination of lightweight and strength. The palm rest is strong and thin like aluminum, but lighter and cooler to the touch.

Resists life’s 'oops' moments: The Corning Gorilla Glass NBT QHD+ display is up to 10 times more scratch resistant than soda lime glass, so it helps prevent scuffs caused by handling, cleaning or wiping.

Greenest XPS laptop ever

Power-efficient: It’s more power-efficient than ever, enough to be ENERGY STAR 6.0 certified.

Smarter materials: Built with the environment in mind, the XPS 13 is free of concerning materials like lead, mercury and some phthalates. The greenest XPS laptop ever, it’s also EPEAT Gold registered*** and BFR/PVC-free.

Recycle-friendly: The rapidly renewable bamboo trays are 100% recyclable, so you won’t worry about your environmental footprint. And an impressive 90% of the laptop’s parts can be easily recycled or reused.

This is a hard review to do. I ordered the XPS 13, loaded with all options, top of line. Received it in six days vice the next day delivery that I had requested. That is on Amazon. Now for the laptop review. The HD touch screen looks fantastic, build and materials are hands above other laptops this size I have looked at. The processor is responsive, I do not have the issues with keyboard depth that some others have complained about. All in all this is a wonderful ultra laptop. Probably the best on the market IF:

Here is the bad part. The present bios and drivers for this laptop do not play well with Windows 10 at all. The first XPS 13 I got from amazon had a screen that flickered and jumped around, the speakers had static in them, it had constant trouble trying to stay connected to WiFi and would not mate with my Logitech MX anywhere Bluetooth mouse (or any other BT mouse). I thought something was bad wrong with laptop and returned it for a replacement.

I receive the replacement, and the same issues were present. This time I did some significant research into the problems. Dell did not prepare a new bios or drivers for this laptop. Originally it was put out with Windows 8.1. They slapped a windows 10 install on the computers with no new drivers. After poring through some forums I did discover a work around for these issues until Dell puts out new Bios and drivers. You go into bios and disable the advanced C-states option. Fixes all the issues but may decrease your battery life some. The really knowledgeable guys on forums believe it is caused when the broadwell cpu tries to wake up from various c-states (where processor powers down). The work around will probably affect your battery performance a little bit until permanent fix.

My company just bought this laptop for me. Overall a good machine... until I started doing video calls. For some hard-to-understand reason, they decided that it would make sense to put the camera at the bottom left of the screen. As a result, there is no way you can use your keyboard without your hands being in front of your camera (see pic below).
Definitely unusable for video calls :-(

I really liked the look and feel of this laptop at the Microsoft store and went ahead and purchased one online. I have the i7 model with Windows 10. I really wanted to like this laptop, but can't get over two major and ongoing issues. But first I will list a few of the pros:

PROS:
Nice feel and look, good battery life, high resolution screen, nice touch pad

CONS:
1) Wireless Connection: The wireless card on this laptop seems to have issues. 9 out of 10 times when the laptop resumes from sleep, the wireless networks are either not detected at all or fail to connect. Occasionally, I can connect to a wireless network but get limited connectivity after about 2-3 minutes. The only way out of this is to reboot the laptop. Thankfully, the laptop reboots in under 15 seconds. I have never had issues with wireless on any laptop. I am not sure if this is a Windows 10, hardware, or hardware driver issue. I have tried reinstalling the wireless driver to no avail. This seems to be a known issue with this model and there isn't a solution for it yet.

2) Camera Placement: As others have mentioned, the camera on this laptop is placed awkwardly on the lower left side of the screen. Imagine having to use the keyboard during a video conference. They could have at least tried to put it in the middle of the screen.

3) Customer Support: Forget customer support. Every time I have called Dell about the wireless issue I've been placed on hold over 45 minutes and have had to hang up due to frustration.

So once again I made the mistake of buying a Dell. I'm especially frustrated this time because I decided to spend more and get a nicer product. Never again.

UPDATE:
I was finally able to resolve the wireless issue after talking to Dell customer service. I am bumping my previous review from 2 to 4 stars.

This is PC is nice looking but I am still testing this computer. My is from Amazon and it has 8 GB memory and 256GB hard disk, touch screen, and Windows 10 Home version not the Windows 10 Pro version. So much work so far compared to all my other new PCs in the past 20 years.

Windows 10 Home version does not have Remote Desktop access.

Battery Life- 92% 6 hours 15 min remaining with my setting and the number changed to 92% 7 hours 30 min remaining after few minutes. 91% 13 hours 44 minutes as I waited for few more minutes without doing anything on the computer ...etc.

Problem 1: Can not get connected to wifi after "shut down":
I was able to start the computer the very first time and got my wifi connection and installed skype without any problem. I "shut down" the computer for the night. Next morning, I was not able to get my wifi connection - I have "limited access" for my wifi and it said my wifi is "public" not "private". After researching on the internet with my old computer and saw many different fixes which I did not want to try on my new computer. I tried "restart" and the wifi was able to connect without any problem so I know it is not my router and it is the new PC. Finally I found one solution on the internet I was willing to try and it worked so far:
Right click on "window start icon", Device Manager, Network Adapters, select the network card (Broadcom 802.11ac...), Power Management, UNCHECKED the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". This fixed my wifi problem when using "shut down" not "restart".
